Here are some things I would do for $15/hour before I let some yob pretend to respect my car:

Mine was used in a movie shoot by cinema students. I drove the car, I made $750.00 for two days. It wasn't worth it. Most of the time I just stood around. the total time they used my car was about 5 hours.

hell......giv'em back the 750, tell them not to use any of the footage they took of your car and tell them you know a guy up in nor-cal who'll do it and not complain about having to drive his car for 5 hours and make 750 dollars:JEKYLHYDE

For one shot ( that they did NOT tell me about) the actor ran up to my car and jumped up ON the door and then sat in:CRY: No damage but I didn't like it!

Very nice!;)

Wouldn't do it. Seen first-hand how they treat your car (not my car) once you sign the papers. A friend of mine's Mustang....

Yeah, I know what you mean. I gave one of the girl models (in a short dress) a quick ride around the block. Like a gentleman, I helped her out of the passenger seat and she wasn't wearing any panties! What nerve!

I used to rent out my surveillance van to TV and Movies (Law & Order, etc) I would get 500.00 per day for an 10 hour day and 100/hr after that. I would always be on the set to oversee the shoot. Good food too.

I had a 66 Mustang that was shot in a movie in the early 90s. I drove and it was filmed at the beach for a few different shots. I made $9.00/hr then which was good for me being an E4 in the Navy. Only one actor was ever in my car and he was filmed sitting in the driver seat, but the car wasn't moving or even running.

My FFR was in a movie. They just used it in shots though, no 'action' (it was too loud for drive-bys) and I made $200 or so for a full day.

spl310 04-20-2010 02:05 PM

How do you go about getting that set up? I would prostitute my car for $750 for a couple of days!

Black Mamba 04-27-2010 10:53 AM

I guess it depends on the production company, a major will pay big $$ plus any damage will be WELL taken care of. Half a$$ production companies will be like dropping the soap in prison so watch yourself and it would be a very good idea to do a video of your car prior to the rental start.

Years ago they used my doorway, exterior shot only, for a Remmington Steel episode and I got $1K out of it, they were in and out in about 3 hours total.

While on the subject I came across something real cool, an extension off IMDB which is for cars used in movies, check it out:
