Squeaky Rear/Roll Bar
Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. I have a horrible squeak coming from either my roll bar grommets or perhaps the rear-end bushings? I have tried lubing the roll bar grommets with little success. The squeak is worse sometimes than others so it’s hard to tell my lubing is truly helping or not. Can't really pin point if it is the roll bar or rear bushings either. For sure its somewhere in the rear. Thanks... Mike |
Try silicone spray, not WD40. It worked for me.

Superformance cars had a similar problem early on. It appears to have been the outside leg of the hoop the way it sat on the pin that was connected to the chassis. No bolt was used on that side of the hoop because the pin extended a good distance into the hoop pipe. They had a problem with a squeek on some cars. They then added a pop rivet and that appears to have solved it. When I changed my hoop, I added a few o-rings on the pin and the inside of the hoop rests against the o-rings rather than the pin. I also added a bolt on the leg on that side of the hoop.

I had a similar issue, turned out to the the heim joints on the 4-bar links, but it came up through the roll bar, darn neare drove me crazy (a short trip). Try lubing them with some motorcycle chain oil. If that fixes it you should replace them.
