Dim tail light

My right rear tail light has dimmed significantly. It's not the bulb as that still works and I have swapped the bulbs from left to right in the rear and the right is still dim while the left is brightly lit. I have also cleaned the contacts and checked the connections on the tail light and they all seem OK.

Any thoughts as to what it would be? Where should I start looking next?

If you are grounded through the tail light body check that path. If you have a corroded ground point it could do this. A quick way to check is to get a jumper wire and attach it between a known good ground and the tail light body and see if the light increases in brightness.

Yes that's the way it's set up. Thanks for the tip. I will look at that tomorrow.

The problem wasn't the ground. When I last replaced a bulb, the contacts must have gotten reversed. Easy to do on the CSX and you can't tell which way they should go back in. Anyway, all fixed and works perfectly.
