That's great news for hot rodders, across the wide range of car building/restoration. With the chevy and ford offerings, it will be easy to be emissions legal, and get reliable long range cruising, not to mention, fuel economy.

Just glue on one of those plastic/fake webber intakes over the factory intake, and away you go. No one will notice the difference.

Slogging the FE around town, has me thinking, it'd be nice to have a little better fuel economy ;)

Funny, I suggested to Tony Brown, head of global purchasing for Ford, that they should offer a crate version of the new 5.0-litre V8 at a conference back in June. I drew my inspiration from seeing the Corvette crate motor used in a Superformance Cobra a while back. Either I convinced him, or they had the same great idea already in the works. ;-)

It has been in the works for some time, production availability, support electronics, etc. held it up. We will have mounting ability in the Superformance MK III in due time.

:)

It sounds good. I just hope they will go ahead and build them.

Tony,
The ECM is from Ford and made for "Hot Rods / Cobras." I can start on it about Nov. 1st  By then SVO should have everything in stock and FFR should be able to get the car here by that time! :3DSMILE:

(No sweat- Cowalick is long gone!)

Closing the final details on fitment in a BDR. Promising engine package, but a real big sucker physically:

Hi Ed,

Good to hear from you, I have been thinking about the FFR hot rod for some time but, looking to build it in my garage.

Very similar physically, so his is the same size as the 4.6 DOHC motors? Hope it is not any bigger... as if that were possible.

Yes it is bigger. The block is bigger and the heads are 4V so you have larger dimensions in many regards. The bellhousing bolt up is same to earlier 4.6. Most everything else is new.

The old cammer motors are pretty big too, for a reason.
