427 Cobra Fuel Pump

I am currently trying to find a fuel pump for a 66 427 Cobra. I would love to know what it looks like since I have a replacement AC delco fuel pump on the vehicle currently which doesnt work properly. I am not sure what it would have come with so any information would be appreciated.

They don't make them any more and if you find one on Ebay you will pay big, big, big bucks for it. This is what everyone is using now that is very similar to what was in the trunk of the 427 comp cars. They used a manual pump up on the engine and two electric in the truck. The electric pumps had a pickup deeper in the tank and ran on a separate line from the manual pump. Then they joined the fuel line via a tee after the manual pump. No fuel guages on the comp cars so when they start to run out of fuel the flip these truck pumps on to get back in the pits for fuel.

There is a pic in my gallery of these pumps in the truck.

On the other hand, you could just use what ERA recommends for their 427 and 428 replicas: a Carter M6905 heavy-duty mechanical fuel pump. They report no problems with this approach.

Thank you for the responses. I guess that I cant get the same look that I think came on the car, the fuel pump that I saw on line in an info website had a canister filter that looks very similar to the AC delco replacement which currently is on the car. I was wondering if a fuel pump exists which would have the same look. Thanks again

Or, add a cover plate where your manual fuel pump is and add an electric fuel pump back by the tank. Just splice into the existing fuel line.
