Trailer Recomendation?
I need....well want a cargo type trailer for my toy.
Since purchasing a large motor home I'm thinking of taking the cobra on a trip or two and an enclosed trailer would allow me to take other items like a golf cart ect. Also, I'm sure my 4wd Avalanche will tow a 2 axle vee nose trailer. What brand and size would you recommend? any suggestions on what to look for? Thanks, JB |
I have a 20 foot Continental Cargo race trailer that I have used to pull my Cobra although I mostly use it to pull my Legends race car.
The Cobra fits with plenty of room for extras. My trailer has A/C & Heat, 30amp Electrical, roof vent, spare tire box in the floor w/ spare tire, and 2 sliding side windows. It has beams every 16" on the floor & sides. The side window keep it light and airy with the doors closed up. The trailer has smooth rivetless outer walls. I paid less than $8,000 and picked it up from the factory. It pulls very easy behind my F150 and my friend's motor home. I added additional E track on the floor and walls, a refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, a winch and shelving that can turn into a bed (The trailer can double as a camper - just no toilet or shower, but they have those at the track) Of course if you don't need all the extras, it would be much less. Continental has four factories in the US. If you are interested let me know and I can get you a big discount. http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/j...er/Trailer.jpg I don't have any pictures with the Cobra in it but here is a picture with my race car in it. http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/j...lerFrttorr.jpg |
JB, I owned one of the trailers from the link below and wouldn't hesitate to buy another. I highly recommend the V-nose option. The trailer was great and the price was right. I got mine with the torsion axles. The trailers are made in Georgia (as are many trailers) so it would be an easy drive to get it. It was the perfect size for my cobra and the cobra loaded without issue.

I now have a 45 ft Featherlite but for a while I had a 24 Wells Cargo 10,000# torsion axles---It had a 4 foot side door located on the right side with a recessed step--with the 4 ft door we could load a golf cart thru the side door which allowed us to keep the main load over the wheels
Carefully think about where you want the axles for balance with your load and locate the 4 ft door just in front of the car which will leave access to the front of trailer for smaller items(and work bench/tool box) |

I know its not enclosed, but its such a beautiful trailer, I wanted to show it off LOL. And add a note to the"You can get alot on the used market" line.
Its a custom Bear Tip up, All tube, 4 wheel disc (surge brakes), 17" Billet Specialties wheels, Stainless fenders, Alum diamond plate decking, Fully smothed and finished. A guy i know had it built to haul around an Hot Rod he was building. He paid 10K!! When he finished the car, he figured he had no use for it and said "Dude, do you want this trailer, its just taking up space" I bought it for $3800.00. Im putting a winch, loading lights and some additional hard points on it. I keep wondering if i could set it up with a Serpent Express encloser? Guess i should call them. The Avalanche has a long enough wheel base, it will do fine.
I have a 24' Pace and the axles are back far enough that the trailer pulls like a champ. I think 24's are one of the most sought after used, so if you go to sell it you can find someone to buy. Good luck! E |

However, four less feet is easier to maneuver. |
That is a Good Looking Trailer!

I have an 18' Hallmark (20' on inside) that works really well with a Cobra. It is fitted with E tracks on the floors in addition to tie down D rings and an electric winch. Since I seldom use it, I might consider selling it. If interested, send me a PM.

Yes, a Serpent Express Retro Kit can be added to your neat trailer. Not a problem. Keeps your Roadster dry and clean. http://www.serpentexpress.com/wp-con...29_04_7003.jpg LNJ |
I have an enclosed 22' x 81/2 ft. trailer. Wish it was a 26 footer, and wish the service door was on the drivers side instead of on the passinger side. Might think about the service doors location when thinking about its usefullness. BTW - 8 1/2 Ft. trailers have to take by-passes around some citys. 8 Footers don't. Something to think about.

There is a place called lone wolf trailers in Faulkville, Alabama. It is about 30 miles south of Huntsville. I purchased one of their open car haulers for 2,100 the past spring, but unfortunately it was stolen from my property while i was on vacation in late August. Just last week i purchased one of their 20 foot v-nose enclosed trailers for 5,000. It was more than i wanted to spend, but once you have a car almost come off an open trailer, the extra money seems well spent. The enclosed trailer pulls very well. I was actually very surprised at how it felt more stable than the open car hauler.

A 24 is large! A Serpent Express Retro Kit would cost about $2000 for - Cover w doors including front sides for tie down access - Frame fittings, dual rib for extra support - Instructions, Drawings, cut plans - Help Desk - Shipping costs You would need to supply some parts locally; budget about $250. Bolt-on fittings. Standard tools: angle gringer, drill, etc. Nothing exotic. No welding. Call if you want to discuss 801-766-4651 |
