I need to be baffled...

I need to fabricate a baffle plate to shield the pcv valve in my Ford Racing valve covers, small block, roller motor. There are 4 bosses cast in the cover, surrounding the pcv hole, drilled but unthreaded. Any ideas on a good design for the plate/shield? Anything to watch out for other than rocker clearance.

It's currently an oil sucker, right up that pcv valve and hose. Hard to imagine an engine builder not putting the shield in there in the first place.

Any pictures of such a shield would also be greatly appreciated.

Just cut out a square piece of thin gauge steel, drill holes to line up with the holes in the valve cover bosses and use sheet metal screws to attach it. Your Ford Racing valve covers should probably have come with baffles exactly like the ones I just described and that's how they attach.

I've seen some builders remove them for rocker clearance, others dent them so they clear the rockers. The best approach is to put on a set of those new valve covers from Ford Racing, they have a pentroof shape and a ton more clearance.

I do think Ford reduced the market appeal by putting 427 on them though.
