40,000 gallons of beer on the road... Ode to Hwy 17
http://www.santacruzsentinel.com/rss...910?source=rss
Heard on hwy 17 this morning as people sat in their cars in immobile traffic, waiting for the tipped over tractor-trailer to be uprighted and cleared out of the road: 40,000 gallons of beer on the road, 40,000 gallons of beer, You take one down, pass it around, 39,999 gallons of beer on the road. 39,999 gallons of beer on the road... DD:D |
40,000 gallons of beer would fill about 8000 truck loads. I think there was substantially less.:LOL:

Wiki says a Tanker truck hold about 9,000 gallons. http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_many_g...ker_truck_hold I agree though, the 40,000 gallons is probably a bit off. 40,000 gallons would be approx 160 tons of beer. |
40,000 lbs actually.

39,999 pounds of beer on the road...
Come on, guys, sing it! DD |

Correct. Still a river of beer. They said it was the equivalent of something like 268 kegs...a measurement we can all understand. http://www.santacruzsentinel.com/localnews/ci_15971910 |

Maybe we should just start it at 268 kegs of beer on the wall...

I saw the live pix on the news this morning. The front of the container didn't have the locks fastened (driver responsibility) If you see the pix again , note the rear of the trailer on its side with the front still attached to the 5th wheel still flat. Somebody is gonna get a new job pretty soon!!:CRY:
