GRADUATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Another roadster in the mix
Well here we are 16 months after delivery and my build is complete and on the road! A far cry from the original 2-3 year build plan……
I would like to thank everyone here, vendors and forum members alike, for their ongoing technical support and lessons learned help which made my build go so much faster. Special thanks to Mike Forte, for many many late night/ weekend tech support phone calls and bending over backwards for his customers and Nick Acton (Mick Mate) for his support and products as well. I also want to thank local FFR owners and build assistants Jerry Morrisey (ClassicJerry) and Bill Kiebler (elfinmagic). My plan with this build was to replicate a 66 S/C as close as I could, given the FFR chassis, using some updated technology and a few custom touches. So here is FFR1006965RD: http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...00830-1759.jpg http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...00904-1031.jpg http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...00904-1031.jpg http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n...00904-1033.jpg More links here: http://s108.photobucket.com/albums/n...%20Graduation/ http://s108.photobucket.com/albums/n...%20Graduation/ ENGINE 1965 OEM 427FE side oiler (std bore cleaned to .007 over) 1965 OEM Meduim Rise cast iron heads (bronze valve guides) 1965 OEM 427 Crank (std/std forged steel with $ stamp) 1965 OEM Holley dual BC/BD carbs (list #3300 and #3301) Scat H-beam rods (standard stroke) Diamond pistons (custom cut to .007) Comp cam and lifters (flat tappet/solid lifter ) Blue thunder aluminum intake (Medium rise) Avaid 9qt oil pan 10:1 compression ratio Dyno at 444.3 HP at 5600 RPM / 455 ftlb torque at 4600 RPM (constant curve rate) RUNNING GEAR RAM flywheel and clutch Quicktime bell housing TKO-600 (0.82 OD) Ford 8.8 IRS with 3.27:1 ratio Levy 12” wildwood disc brake package 15” Halibrand style pin drive rims (flat gold spinners) with Goodyear ‘Billboards’ BODY WORK Full drop butt mod Rolled fender edges Rolled cockpit edges Feruels Hidden body mounts Shaved front turn signal bosses Hood louvers Hood edge and hood scoop rivets Bolt on hood scoop Smooth under hood contour with correct oval cut out Centered Hood latches Black anodized side louvers CUSTOM TOUCHES Removed upper portion of bulk head to expose roll bar 1 3/4 “ roll bar at 10 degree rake Roll bar anchor bracket Dual OEM Stewart Warner fuel pumps in trunk Drop trunk space Firewall forward mod OEM Talbot Berlin Jr 300 side mirror Wood veneer dash (Sapele Pomely grain) Trans tunnel vents Earls Foot box vents with original style push knobs Under Dash heater and seat heaters (Michigan….) Outstanding work! I especially like the firewall layout and the "accent tubes" under the dash.
You've set a high standard for all of us! |

This car sits really good. Not too high and not too low. You really have done a super job. I have been
thinking of spraying my Cobra Black but I want the gold stripes on it. You have a beautiful roadster there and I hope she rides and handles as good as she looks. Hersh:) |
dlotz, that's one awesome build, I congratulate you on your perseverance and great workmanship. Enjoy your car in all its glory.
