Speed Shop in Bay Area CA
Does anyone have a good recommedation for a speed shop in or around the Bay. A few names that have been toss around.. Top of Hill in Livermore, Hall in Benicia, and Performance Fab on the Penisula. I'm looking at buying and trying to find someone good who can go through a Superperformance I'm looking at making an offer on.
Thanks |
Goodies...on Race Street in San Jose. Also, you might try the Mustang "Ranch" on El Camino. Both are very good at working on older hot rods!

Craig @ TOTH has been working on Superformances for over 10 years - there are not many in CA, much less the US who have done that. I would highly recommend him.
(yes, there are a few, but not many) |
I would contact Steve (PANAVIA On Club Cobra) at Mustang Ranch in Santa Clara.
I also sent you a PM with another idea. Good luck on your search! |
Two Speed Shops come quickly to mind, but they would be for parts purchases only:
Vic Hubbard in Hayward Gotellis in SSF |

Another vote for Craig at Top of the Hill.
He does very good work, although he seems to be a bit arrogant at times. But that is just his personality. |
I recommend Ted Taormina. http://www.tedtaormina.com/
Ted's built a number of Superformance Cobras, and I own one of them now. Ted's got my car running like a top, and has gone over another car of mine (Gallardo) as he is also a Lamborghini specialist, aside from knowing Cobras inside and out. I'm particularly impressed with how he tuned my engine, it is a 521 stroker with a fairly radical cam, rollers, mechanical lifters, and it handles traffic, heat, driving around at 1500 RPM just fine, but it screams to the redline :-) Ted's also the nicest guy I've ever worked with, and he loves Cobras! -- Gordie |
Thanks
A lot of good suggestions... Also, any good paint shops? I believe Superperformance uses a lot of standard colors that should still be available even if the car is 9 years old. There's the standard stone chips that I'd lke to have take care of... I'm up in the Danville Area
Thanks Again! |
.... different cars for sure.. but the Cobra is much more fun.. I've driven and have family that owns both Ferraris and Lamborghinis.. fragility is the first word that comes to mind.. As a weekend driver and just to blow the cobwebs out of ones head the Cobra is the ultimate fix.

How about ROGER KRAUS racing in hayward? Been awhile but they considerd top shelf back in the day.

Brooks Motor Cars up in Oakland is fantastic on paint, although they specialize in Porsche/BMW, so not sure what their take is on a Cobra. I used them in the past twice, as did a friend (with BMWs), and they were fantastic. I dealt with Dan Kim, service and quality were excellent.

Hall Fabrication - Awsome!
I settled on Hall up in Benecia.. I can't say enough about the time and attention he spent on the PPI. Very knowledgeable and one look around his shop shows you the trust and support he gets from his clientele.
Hope to take delivery on my 428FE next week after some recommended fixes! |
Hall does some very end stuff - you should be very satisfied with his work.
WRT paint: Years ago I heard of a place in Concord called "Toy Works". They painted a lot of boats and 'vettes. I'm not sure if they are still around or not, but if they are, then you should talk with them. Good luck, Randy... |
