Aluminum spats
Opinions on the best way to attach aluminum spats?
Bond them, bolt them to the body? What have others done for the alloy spats that they were happy with? What you would you have done differently? I already have the alloy spats, but they need to be trimmed and mounted. |
Although mine are carbon fiber, not aluminum, I use two rows of 3M body molding double sided tape around the perimeter. It does a great job and the spats can be removed and replaced should they sustain any damage.

What is the source of your aluminium spats?

There have been a couple of questions on where I got the spats and what they look like. They were actually kind of a PITA to find (unless of course you have access to an English wheel and can make your own). So here is a link.
https://www.europaspares.com/COBRA_S...WAS__5428.html I think they were quite a bit cheaper when I bought them (last Dec), but maybe I am misremembering....%/. I could not find a single place in the US that sold them. These will require a bit of trimming adjustment to fit your specific car, but they are large enough that I wouldn't think it would be a problem for any cobra model, so that seemed like a good compromise to me. They are hand-made and the quality is quite good. I will try to take a few pics of them at home and post those. I haven't trimmed them yet, so they are as I received them. EDIT: If any of you had problem with that link, trying going to: https://www.europaspares.com/ and do a search for: CWAS and they should come up. "CWAS" stand for "COBRA WHEEL ARCH SPATS". |

Doug, I am looking at purchasing some of these spats for my FFR Cobra. What gauge aluminum are they made of? Can they easily be modified with a good pair of snips or do you think it would be something a machine shop would need to take care of.
