Soldering jets

I am experimenting with Idle jet holder sizes on Weber carbs. I want to plug the larger hole and re-drill a smaller hole. Can I use regular resin core plumbing solder or should I use silver solder? This will be a perminate fix since the holders sell for $12.95 x 8!

Wouldn't a little JB Weld be easier?%/

I have soldered brass Holly jets shut and then drilled them to the diameter I wanted. It works fine.

Ive done just that. You must ream the drilled hole. You can fashion a needle or round toothpick, use rubbing compound, must be a 30/60degree crosshatch pattern just like a cylinder bore.no silver solder. 30/60long explaination here.e-mail me if you have problems sincerely lawrencex@att.net

i've read of people doing this, haven't tried it. would acid core be more appropriate and resin core for electrical?
