VW Indicator switch

Information if anyone has a VW Beetle indicator switch I am after center hole diameter please.

The powers that be here have changed the rules no more welded steering components so I have to remake my steering shafts etc.

Gidday Ant, 1.6" or the metric equivalent.

Mick your blood is worth bottling!

Thank you very much. I have thrown out the old welded steering column as that type of thing is no longer allowed here with certification and the hours I spent making the jolly thing is a bit frustrating, considering those parts were in the first inspection. Found a Subaru 2005 column the right length and splines so all I have to do is mount and figure the indicators out etc.

Do you have to use collapsable columns, and spline the intermediate shafts?

A collapsible column is about worthless alongside a 4" tube ladder frame. You couldn't compress that frame enough to push the steering column into you. It is simply a bushed tube with a splined shaft inside it at the top connected to a bottom shaft via a universal. The universals are a 3/4-48 spline as in MG Jag. The newer universals such as Borgeson and Flaming river are really nice but are a heavier needle roller type and are also longer and fatter than their predecessors.
