Hose Candy

Saw this on Gearz this weekend and was wondering if anyone has tried it?

Looks like a neat way to add a little something under the hood.

Supporting vendor? Awesome!

Otherwise, totally gay. :JEKYLHYDE

EDIT: Okay, not exactly gay (don't want to offend). It's the ricer look (Oops! Just offended more!).

ERA Chas 11-01-2010 05:53 PM

Hey great-motor Dreadlocks! The Stevie Wonder look!
Bet Pat does a how-to thread!

I offend anybody?

joyridin' 11-01-2010 06:40 PM

Damn...no pink?

Naah, I'm too busy with my new hobby -- watchiing my newly de-anodized fittings oxidize.

Wire brushes in the Dremel tool and 600 grit sand paper. It probably took about as long as it would take to change the fittings themselves but the results are pretty nice looking. The anodization comes off reasonably easy and leaves beautiful bright raw aluminum. That is starting to oxidize over now and leaving a very cool "old style" look.

Hey everyone! Patrick is converting his ERA to a rat rod.

TriSodium Phosphate does a real nice job removing anodizing on fittings. Put a pan of water on the stove put some TSP in and add the fittings and stir occasionally. Works real well. Rinse when done.

Great idea, just a little too old fasion to change.

acmjg 11-02-2010 06:05 AM

Easy -Off oven cleaner takes anodizing right off.

Silverback51 11-02-2010 06:12 AM

They have a "Natural" color (I'm assuming this is not finished) so you do not have to remove the anodizing.

The thing I liked about them is the quick disconnect feature, and you do not have to have hose clamps.

Personally I do not think it looks "ricer", nor the last time I checked was I gay. Just wanted that for the record. ;):D

John, I've used the product. I used for my vacuum gauge to carb and PCV to carb.... a few picts attached. I liked the product mostly because I would keep the same "theme" going to match my MSD spark wires and ss braided hose fittings.

Was just messing with you. Different strokes for different folks. Aeroquip makes some really nice disconnects for fuel and just about any connection. I just thought this offering showed some colors that were, well, loud. ;)

I looked through some of your stuff. It looks like you did some really cool things to your Cobra to make it have some punch. Nice work man.

mkassab 11-02-2010 07:38 AM

Thanks Greg. I just updated my site this morning with many updates and pictures..... I'm now 99.9% complete. First show Nov 12th and 13th in Panama City, FL.... i.e., Emerald Coast Cruz'in car show. Over 3000 cars are entered. Keeps growing each year.

Here they are with about three days of oxidation on them. BTW ACademic, are you in the market for a Cobra? The NOV/DEC/JAN are probably your best deal months for picking one up.

Here's an older shot showing how it looked with the red/blue fittings. It's all personal preference....
