Definately looks like a C-4. The stock C-4 half shaft is 18" from CL to CL of u-joint. Can you measure yours??

Its a C4 for sure, you can even see part of the batwing... But those halfshafts look like steel, not aluminum. Likely shortened and cheaper to shorten in steel than aluminum, given the requirement to re-heat treat the aluminum after welding!

Thank you again for the responses. I thought it looked like a C4 and I have actually spoke to both Vette Brakes and VanSteel as they are both local. I may just drive it over.

I look forward to the day I post a question here that has a simple solution :)

Looks like I'll be looking at my shortened steel half shafts, narrowed unileaf, and steep shock mounts...good times.

Is there anything for these cars that the local autoparts store sells???

I'm going to have some chromolly half shafts built this winter, hopefully they will last more than a run or two.

Looks like you have a rub on your right half shaft.

Jack, In your experience, what are the chances I'd break a half shaft with 15" BFG street tires? Or any driveline component? Of course anything can break but just the overall durability of the C4 with street tires and 326 RWHP and similar torque. I want to do more quarter mile runs but don't want to fear that I'll need to trailer it every time I head to the track.

I'd say with the steel half shafts, you would be pretty safe. I also come off the line at idle, but stock aluminum shafts can't stand it when you have 800 horses on tap. The U-joints don't break, I just rip the yoke off the shaft. Even at idle a 1.38 60' time is pretty violent. I also run an automatic. Hopefully with the chromolly shafts I'm having built, they will last.

Mike,
A stock C3 or a C4 suspension should hold up to your engine unless you go crazy with a 427 Chevy engine putting out over 800hp like Jacks and then see how fast you can turn the ¼ mile.

Update.....

The suspension is a C4 unit that has been narrowed by almost 5 inches.
The narrowed rear end allowed the deep dish wheels to fit under it.

I was very fortunate that Vette Brakes is local to me. I can only say that Gary and his team have been amazing! For those of you that have had the opportunity to work with them by phone, I can just add to impressive shop they run.

I have them currently building me an entire custom system with all adjustable trailing arms, camber smart struts and toe rods. They charged me no additional cost for the custom lengths and even powder coat everything in house!

As far as the spring. They tested mine and found that it has a rate of 680 lbs!
The factory Corvette uses one that is about 300 lbs, even their race only spring is 420 lbs. I think I know now why the car rides so rough. Needless to say, they will be making me one that is more appropriate to my car.

Does anyone know their spring rate and what I should use for mine?

I do like to Autocross but also plan to 1/4 mile it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Mike
