Secret Handshake info
I was wondering if someone could teach me the secret Cobra handshake cause I just bought my first roadster!
I've read similar stories hundreds of times on this site but never thought I'd have one. Sunday I picked up a yellow FFR mkII with a supercharged 302. I couldn't be happier. Welcome to the madness and congratulations on the new member of the family. Locally in the Portland area check out http://www.cascadecobras.com/ We're reasonably active during the better weather part of the year and, like you, chomp at the bit during the "less than optimal" periods. There are a number of planned events during the year and spur of the moment local runs that are put together in a couple of days. Cascade has about 50 members with about 20 being continuously active. Activities cover track days, cruises (both local and longer distances) local shows and events. Most of the inter-club communication is done on the FFR Northwest forum at http://www.ffcars.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=28. Always ready to greet new owners. DonC |

Vector1, I'm still on the wagon. I get cravings 1-2 times a week still. I've been compensating with trident. DonC, I already have the cascade cobra site bookmarked. I see that most of the events are on Saturday which is basically the worst day of the week for me. I haven't had a Saturday off in 15+ years. I'm not a track guy. For some reason I never got into it. I'm more of a cruiser type of dude. Silverback51, the pic is where it used to live in Kennewick. I trailered it to Portland Sunday. I'll wait for some nice days for a photo op in its new home. Carl |
There sure is an active group of mostly FFR folks up your way. You'll figure it out in good time. Watch out for "Twin Turbo", red FFR, with of course, Twins under the hood. Outrageously quick! :)

rain tires
drive it in the rain. The longest I've drove in the rain was 70 miles. Crazy Jack drove a 100 miles in the rain and then turned around an drove back thru it.
These cars are made of the same stuff as boats. :) Make sure you have the correct tires for wet roads. :LOL: Dwight |
I drove it for the first time today. It was chilly and the roads were slick. It was VERY hard to not spin the tires during shifting. A few hours later when the roads were dry it was a little better.

About half of the planned events we do are on Sunday and the lion's share of the "hey the weather is supposed to be good Sunday lets run down the gorge" runs are on Sunday. We'll probably be at pretty low ebb now that the rain is seriously back with us but keep an eye on the weather forecast and the FFR forum for the quick draw stuff. Cascade Cobras was originally all FFR's but now is comprised of all different manufacturers so don't let the forum throw you off. The meeting however are usually on Sat. but we have two a year in the evening during the week for those folks like you who have to work on Sat. My car is going to be down for the next month for it's annual winter maintenance program but I'll be good to go after that. Look forward to meeting you at one or the get-togethers. DonC |

Welcome to the fraternity! The bigest thing you'll have to learn to deal with is the way most people respond to a cobra, and how to act relatively humble about it. Keep in mind, when you show up at a car show, it will be like landing an F-15 at an ultra light convention. Enjoy. Bryon |
