[quote=Larry N Johnson;1100496]You might be right on the size.
I can call Bob Lacy tomorrow if you like.
The Vintage spinners interchange with Trigo, SPF and Kirkham spinners.

Thanks, no worries :-)
I am just pointing out another source of problems with the knock-off wheels.

Nice picture, nice wheel fit!

Bob, are you planning to offer a Kidney Bean knock off wheel in the future? Or maybe an FIA wheel?

I bought a set of your 15" knock offs for my first car and was really pleased with them.

Any future plans for a Sunburst reproduction street wheel?

Will any of your (or American Racing) 17" pin drives fit a CSX4000 without adapters? I am looking for a set of track wheels/tires. Tire selection is easier with the 17s.

If not, I will open up the question to the general population.............

You can get 17" pin drives from Vintage Wheels.

Either this style for $1795 a set:

Or the classic look for $1750:

The above are one-piece; 2-piece wheels are availble too in 6-pin, see Vintage 2-Piece Wheels

Call Bob Lacey for details.

Please be advised that when you say that the Vintage spinners are interchangable between Trigo, SPF and Kirkham spinners, There were actually 2 different SPF wheels made (actually referred to as "WAW".) We will refered to them as WAW1 and WAW2.

WAW1 spinners have a step between the cone and the ears which can bottom out on Trigo and WAW2 wheels. WAW1 spinners should not be used on Trigo and WAW2 wheels but its OK to use Trigo and WAW2 spinners on WAW1 wheels. Larry, you may want to confirm the interchangability of WAW1 spinners and Vintage spinners on Vintage wheels...
BTW: BEAUTIFUL GOLD CENTERS!

Blas:
another good observation! Spinner interchangeability can be a can of worms.

Some even had another taper, different thread diameter or thread too tight, or wrong thread angle (55deg or 60deg?)...

SPF used TRIGO in the beginning, then WAW (Wheelcraft). And you are saying there were even 2 different WAWs?

Will this take another 10 years to sort out, like solving the pin drive issue? :-)

Blas 03-22-2011 06:55 AM

Yes, there are two different versions of the WAW's. The Superformance Owners manual offered by "2nd Strike" has done a lot of research on this factory spinner/wheel interchange issue. They have figured out the mix and match relationships between Trigo, WAW1 & WAW2 wheels and spinners. Vintage Wheels have not been added to the mix, but they definitely should be. I think we all had our hands full with the manual covering just SPF parts at the time. If someone with the details on Vintage Wheels, spinners, pins, etc. contacts me directly offline, I'll see to it that information to adapt Vintage Wheels on to a SPF chassis gets incorporated into the Superformance Owners Manual; or at worst, we’ll have a definitive answer for those who contact Mike or me on how to adapt Vintage Wheels to a SPF chassis originally supplied with Trigo’s, or either style WAW’s. A WIN/WIN for Vintage Wheels and SPF Owners, along with anyone else with Trigo's on their car.
