Here's a kit for $220 all you have to do is put it together

Like everything, you get what you pay for.

We've had them make a couple of our Hot Rod exhausts. They do fantastic work.

Headers

How much are a set?
Jon

mickmate 01-19-2011 06:59 AM

I think the last set they made for us was in the high teens.

there was a couple pairs of the 391 truck exhaust manifolds on ebay for sale fairley cheap....they are a center dump type manifold that may or may not work with your frame mounts.

mickmate 01-20-2011 05:46 AM

They are very compact but they toss about 100HP out the window.

rustyBob 01-20-2011 08:55 AM

Its not always about the horsepower........is it ??
those are nice looking headers...do they run outside the frame ??
i couldent find any of those manifolds when i did my exhaust
so i modified a pair of Midstates headers to work with a set of
hooker collectors and ended up with a pair of "shortie" headers
for my FE and they work great and look good to..

There's more than enough in most Cobras anyway. The street cars used (almost) those manifolds on some early cars, later ones got bolt together headers. They sure do look the part. There are some truck and car block hugger headers available that may fit some applications too. If you can start with something that's close and modify it to fit like you did that's a great way to do it.

Yeah, I'm thinking something like the Mustang 5.0 GT factory exhaust "headers", which look sort of like a set of shorty headers that a street-rod builder would use. They would HAVE to be more efficient than a set of factory cast manifolds....but the real deal would be the tri-Y headers like MickMate showed in the first reply in this thread!!!!

Cheers from Dugly

Found these headers on ebay #290525945916 any thoughts on these
thanks Bob

They look nice Bob but they are 1 3/4" look somewhat deep (tall) and are probably too far back by our footboxes. If they were a mirror image that may get it closer to working.
I couldn't find a picture of my pass side one as that was smooth and easy compared to the drivers side which wiggles around throttle and steering.
