FAST Dual Sync Distributor - need help !
Hi guys,
does anyone of you know, how to install and phase the FAST dual sync distributor ? I use it with the XFi ECU and a 8stack-system from inglese for a ROUSH427R. What I did up to now : I turned the engine to 50°BTC and installed the distributor facing to #1cylinder. Then I turned the distributor (with power on) clockwise until the first red LED (cam signal) gets on. Then I turn clockwise until this light gets off. After about a distance of 5mm the next red LED gets on (crank signal). From here I turn back anticlockwise until the red LED of the crank signal gets off and fix the distributor. Is that right what I did up to here..? In the manual is told "find the leading edge" of that signal....what does that mean exactly ? Thanks, Stephan |

I've done some on some builds and it pretty much goes as the directions say---altho some of there guys speak some different choices of words---they don't use auto motive terms but computer geekish---
Set the part that times the engine to a few degrees more advanced than your desired timing as the computer can retard the timing but not advance it---then set the cam signal one at the 50* You might want to narrow the rotor tab to reduce the chance of crossfiring to the next cylinders tab |

You took the words out of my mouth---kind of goes back to the Ol' Magneto days! STEPHEN, Leading edge is the same as "Phasing- Start and finish!- As I understand it. Phase starts at the exact point the light (or circuit) is complete/turns ON. End of the phase is when it will turn OFF. Then there is a phase (which you shouldn't have to give credence to.) that is between the 'points'. After that the "Phasing" will start all over again to fire the next plug. This is my 2-cents take of it all! DV |
