I have never used a Demon carb on my own personal stuff or customer engines that didn't have issues. I built a 428FE with a Tunnel Wedge and both of the Demon 1850-style carbs had issues with o-rings being left out of the transfer tubes. Others have been full of shavings and trash. It's just not worth it.
I use nothing but Quick Fuel carbs now. They even have a great Holley 1850 style carb that works well on dual carb intakes. With that being said, I hate to see anyone lose their business because of the economy. |
Barry grant would stop selling to there biggest world wide distributors!
Think about that for a second |

I just did another search at Summit . I type in "Barry Grant" and I get Holley, Quick Fuel ,Moroso but no BG or Barry Grant stuff.
What I did is I bought a Barry Grant diaphram adjustable fuel log turned it with the regulator and return end to the rear and used it to supply dual inline Holley fours. All the plumbing fittings, hoses, tubes, heat sheilding and so forth. I have what I want. If the diaphram or something should fail, I do not want to have to recreate the whole thing again, let alone the expense. |

Barry Grant news
I was going to buy BG my suppliers opinion was go Aeromotive as he had a few comebacks with BG. A friend purchased a Demon carb and has had a good run with it, I picked it up and the heavy weight surprised me. I went Pro-systems for my carb and it has been great so far.
Its unfortunate that BG didnt do something with their quality control long ago, they seem to have some good ideas, but less than desirable standards in the factories! Its never nice to see someone like BG go under. |
I'm sorry, Jeg's is carring BG stuff curently. As I remember it brought up 600 items. While looking around, there seems to be a lot of similarity between brands. Does a a third party manufacture to specifications? The BG adjustable length fuel log w/ adjustable diaphram return type fuel presure regulator is not shown. I wonder if parts( springs, diaphrams, Orings, and so forth) were or are industry standard and available from other sources?

They may not have been filet-mignon-perfect, but they certainly pushed Holley into producing much better stuff. R.I.P., Demon carbs. |
Isn't Barry Grant responsible for updating the carburetor market with the Claw series (predecesor to the Demon)? Prior to that Holley did not the HP series etc to my knowledge. I have a Road Race Demon and Speed Demon and am happy with the products. Holley has had their problems too and filed Chapter 11 not too long ago if memory serves. Regardless, it sucks to lose a supplier in this industry.

As time moves on and the generations age and change, it would just seem the demand for carburetor products will decline. Even NASCAR is moving to FI in 2012, the antiques at 25 years and older have FI.
