Help me identify this 289 Cobra kit

I was driving around in Florida, and spotted this 289 Cobra kit in a garage:

I stopped to talk to the guy. He is redoing the car, but has no idea what manufacturer it is from. I've sen a LOT of different Cobra kits, but never one like this before. The nose and tail look a like 289 street car, the fender flairs a little bit like an FIA. It had an IRS rear end at one time, but somebody has converted it to to a 9" Ford live axle.

The car has a Noth Carolina Assembled Vehicle title, and was said to come out of Kentucky before that. The owner has tracked the history as best he can, but the Kentucky DMV didn't have any records available.

It has a very unusual frame - I've posted some pics in an album:

Note the exposed trunk hinges, and unique detail around the trunk handle.
Anybody have ant ideas what manufacturer might have produced this kit?

regards,

Jeff

This may be harder than you may think to identify......
not many 289 cars were produced as "kits" and the
only one that comes to mind is Johnex out of Canada....
good luck

Frame looks home-built to me. Body I have no idea.

Reminds me of a VW based chassis structure up front. I know I've seen that truss set up before, but not on a Cobra.
