New B&B hardtop

B&B manufacturing is now offering a hardtop with a port hole in it, Really helps on the blind spot, What do think?

Looks Good

Wbulk 04-16-2011 03:00 PM

The port hole window needs to go up so it's centered from the bottom to the top of where the window is. Maybe two inches up. Easier to look out. My opinion. You asked.

DanEC 04-16-2011 03:35 PM

I agree with Wbulk's comment on centering it a little more.

azfordman 04-16-2011 03:43 PM

Looks great. Kind of like the old T'birds. I love my hard top, but the blind spot is very frustrating at times. I would agree on raising it a bit, and would add that I personally would like to see it a bit larger if it was on my car, FWIW.

B&B hardtop

Thanks for all the input guys, this was the first one we have done with the port holes, so I just thought i would see what the input would be.

rustyBob 04-18-2011 10:55 AM

I would say yes to moveing it up but also move it to the rear some also it looks like its to close to the side window opening....cut up a couple a more tops so we can see what the changes will look like......hahahaha

Bill E 04-18-2011 12:47 PM

any plans for a fast back?

mdross1 04-22-2011 04:13 AM

Will this top work with soft top side curtains/windows? The port would look better moved up and back a little.

Rickd 04-22-2011 03:08 PM

Agree very much with the "belongs on a boat" comment. Even my sail boat had rect shaped opening ports. Looks like a "home made" attempt. What would look more "correct" in my opinion - is a more traditional either rectangle or rectangle - cut in half - a triangular shape similar to those used on some actual production hard tops. If I had this top - I would take it to a body shop specializing in fibreglass - and have the port hole removed and replaced by something that would appear to be more appropriate for a sports car. My opinion. Like the shape of the top - resembles to an extent the top done by Butler in the past (was taken off of an actual soft top - so it had the fabric pattern in it - it LOOKED like a soft top. Really neat).

Better centering both front-to-back and bottom-to-top would help, as others have noted. Overall, though, it just doesn't look right to me on a Cobra-type automobile.

Bill Bess 04-23-2011 07:22 AM

Not bad, but the "porthole" is all wrong. How about making the area where the porthole is located look like a rear Mustang window..sort of a triangle , tapered shape leading back towards the rear window. Shape the rear window to match the side windows. It would look great and give you the light and vision.
Just my thought. Bill

moved hole

http://www.clubchopper.com/photopost...66/Top_B_B.JPG Moving the port hole may not be feasible because of the curve of the side panel. You would have to curve the port. It can be done but would add a lot of expense to the top. A curved back window that raped around could be made also, but would add additional expense to the top. How much is the average cobra owner willing to pay? I think they did a nice job and I bet the price is good to. I am sure that they would be willing to modify yours if you offered to pay for the changes.

Bryan, I think what the guys mean is this....

http://photos.imageevent.com/germanp...e/diiennds.jpg

The round side window disturbs the clean lines of the cobra.

B&B top
