Well i'm 100% sure its not a Shell Valley....

ItBites 04-18-2011 07:36 PM

A few more pics would sure help...

Need to see frame in engine compartment, and hood latch recievers at the back of the compartment. Some views of the dash and door jambs would also help. How about close ups of the fender lips and the rollled edge of the cockpit? Pics of details are more helpful than the overall shots

Real hard to tell from the distance pics you put up.

I'm still gonna guess excalibur, arntz, butler, or some factory (DOT approved) build (I know there's another DOT mfg from years ago, but I cannot recall). The overrider mounts are a single tube and I am guessing they are kind of a shock absorber... How about more better pics?

winnipaw 04-18-2011 10:04 PM

Thanks Itbites...I just added more pics in my album...take another peak

You might try calling the bar (it is still in business) and see who the owner of the bar was back then and go from there to see if you can find out any info on who owned it/built/manu. it.....i googled the name of the bar and was able to look at some pics. of the place and it dosent look big enough to have a car of any kind on display in it....

Just called the bar. Lady said she remembers it hanging at the place but the owner sold the place and it disappeared. She wouldn't give me names. I just purchased the car from a person that told me about the car being at that bar, but he cant tell me anything else about it. He never knew the kit manufacturer(he says). I've posted even more pics...take another look...any thoughts?

ItBites 04-19-2011 01:09 PM

There are only the same three pics as yesterday...

Look in his album at his profile, not the member gallery.

I'm finding some simularities between your car and my S C Motorcars. The hood bumper bosses and the door latches for two things. Some things are not the same, like the one rod out the the overriders. S C ands SMC sre the only two replicas that I've seen that have the hood bosses and door handle and latch like yours.

It's a shame the people at the bar couldent/wouldent give up some info.....
some people just dont get it...

winnipaw 04-19-2011 08:43 PM

I suppose its been 10 years since the car was removed...tests everyones memory. Not a big deal

davecobra 04-24-2011 03:37 PM

S C Motorcars for sure

Dear Winnipaw
I have an S C Motorcars Cobra, and your frame and dash and hood mounts are just like mine, I understand from talking to Larry Goins, that they only made about 100 of them and their factory was in Jay OK. Larry has all the serial numbers for the cars they built and he was super nice to me about mine told me who it was built for and the original equipment on it.
If you vin is 17 digits long and begins with OK the next digits tell the year month day and year produced. They never sold any kits, only complete cars as I understand.
Hope this helps, I love mine and have been pleased with the quality.
David

Only 100 cars!

Hi Dave. I 'm returning to my home in Mass. on Monday. The Cobra is there waiting. I'm slightly anxious to see it in person. It is a real project in that it has been in storage for 10 years, so I really dont know what I'm getting myself in to. But that's the fun of it. I'm very happy that you like the car. I've spoken to one other member that has said the same. I'm just going to cruise with it and improve it gradually. Thanks for the message and I hope to speak further. I'll let you know what I find when I get home. No keys..no battery, no oil, no gas tank, etc., etc. God ..what have I done! I'm Cobra blind! Leon

winnipaw 04-25-2011 02:25 PM

Hey Dave...Checkout Lesters SC...user name "lcrabtree"..great guy!

davecobra 04-25-2011 02:38 PM

Sounds great, you will enjoy the car, I rebuilt mine, made it like I wanted it, change transmission, wiring, fuel system, cooling system, hood latches, dash, suspension, whew when I think about all I did, it was like building one from start.
If I can help you, please let me know. I kept good notes on most things I changed.
Maybe Lester, you and I can form our own little club LOL>

No doubt I'll need some help. I appreciate the offer. I will be posting pics of progress. Do you have an album or any pics of your SC....Good idea about forming a group. We should be looking for B&B cars as well as SMC cars. Leon

meat 06-19-2011 08:48 PM

It looks like either an LA Exotics or an SC Motorcars. I've only ever seen once SCM, but a few of the LAE cars had those reversed door handles. If there's a big square frame behind the pipes, it's probably an LAE.

I don't think it's an NAF; I recall the rear fender lips being different.

Your pal,
Meat.
