PRC Cobra....... with apologies

This has got to be an original barn find. Its called a Shau-Tu-la-ge replica. Its got a Loush single cylinder engine rated at 12HP with a significant amount of torque. Has a manual transmission and swing steering. One of the neat features is the custom built re-bar seating arrangement and it comes with extra large trunk space. Top speed, downhill, is 15 km per hour.

Currently on display at the Zhuhai Auto Show. No fixed price yet, we waiting for offers.

Hey tin-man.
A Loush? Does Jack know they're doing a copy of one of his engines?
It's got a manual trans, so you wouldn't be able to drive that, would you?

You know my 'how much power is enough' question? That Loush don't have enough, buddy. Would fail on rev limit as well.

Cheers!:D

Awesome

I think it's beautiful :D The only problem I see in the design is the steering looks to be a little "heavy"

Can I get one with motor mounts for a V8? ;)

Glen, Don't know if Happy Jack knows this or not:LOL:. I have seen these machine all over China in the countryside and they are awesome, their traction is profound since it's front wheel driven These suckers can pull out a tree stumps without breaking a sweat and do a reverse wheelie in the process, take a look at the front tires, talk about traction, they dig in and don't budge. Standard equipment for most farmers. BTW they start this with a hand crank. Seems like a good company to invest in, let's see, there are 800 million people in the central and northern provinces and half of them are farmers. But five will get you ten the company is run by the P.L.A. [Peoples Liberation Army] and there will be no outside investors allowed to participate. These folks are into everything.

Sorry, I digress.

So I am guessing this won't ring your bell in the power dept, correct?%/

V-Man The guy who owned this visited my factory this morning and I had to take a picture of it, the more you look at it, the more it becomes a piece of work. Beauty is cetainly in the eye of the beholder in this case for all things mechanical. I'm betting with a few coats of paint and some chrome work on the Loush engine it would be a real show stopper.:LOL: y'think?

While it looks heavy it is surprisingly easy to "steer".

sorry, the original design was for a horse but it transitioned into the Loush 12HP iteration as seen in the picture when the combustion engine came along. I do hear however they will be offering a turbo charged version in the near future, maybe this would work for you?:LOL:

Now that is quite a machine. The front looks a lot like a rototiller that I used to have but it had more power. It would be fun to have one all fixed up and show up at a car show with it. I bet they would have a devil of a time deciding which class it would go in.

Ron

Is that a Chinese Brembo brake caliber hanging behind the right front tire ??

Ron, you are right, it would be a blast just to show up and some top end car show with Ferraris n' Porches n' Bentleys n'all and Cobras of course, and take pictures of the dude's lookin' down their noses while deciding where they should place this beast. Do they have a category for unconventional pieces of work?

Lets see:

Original cost: $1250
Transportation costs to the USA: $5000
Prepping for the car show: $10,000
Look on the faces of the judges: Priceless.

Fred, by George, I do think you are right, there was only one and I understand its optional: right or left, depending on the drivers preference. It's foot powered you know.

Correct. Yours neither (a 511?? Yee-ikes)
Believe it or not John, I have experience with similar gadgets (Howard Gem Rotavators) and handcranking a big single cylinder engine is a real lottery unless you do it right. Get the magneto setting wrong and it breaks your arm.
Cheers,
Glen
