Does gasoline have legs?
Does gasoline stick to the walls of the gas tank? I was draining my tank (took out about 8 gals of 2 year old gas) to install a new fuel line and I encountred a strange situation.
I drained the tank, dry I thought , got back to it about an hour later and another cupfull came out. Back the next day and about a half a cup. And so forth each day. About 2 oz out this morning. What gives? Condensed gas on the walls and top of the tank? Greg |
Could your tank have a foam-rubber like anti-explosive in it? Mine does....I ran out of gas one evening about 2 miles from a gas station, was ready to walk but after a few minutes there was enough gas to start the car and get to the station. My fuel cell has "blocks" of anti-explosive foam in it.
Cheers from Dugly!! |
Hi Dugly. My custom made ss tank has no foam but does have baffles in it. Maybe some gets trapped by a baffle and the daily temp flucuations make the gas expand and find its way to the drain. I stuck a wire into the drain and a q-tip to make sure there was no sediment blockage and its clean.
