I went to the Rolex Grand-AM this past weekend. Check out this little beauty!

$5000 premium over the stock Coyote 5.0 is much to pay for 32 additional ponies..no?

Stock Coyote 412hp for $6130- $15/horsepower
Boss Coyote 444hp for $11,000- $25/horsepower

The addition of 32 horses will cost you $156 per additional horsepower.

Dimis 07-25-2011 06:14 PM

I would argue peak power is not as important as, well... the area under the graph ;)

TButtrick 07-25-2011 07:04 PM

The stock Coyote actually makes more torque.. 390 ft/lbs fpr stock vs. 380 ft/lbs for the Boss.

4pipes 07-25-2011 07:32 PM

Boss engine redlines at 7500 RPM and has hardened parts for durability.

I'm starting to think that all "unique engine" threads should begin by stating why the engine is unique (e.g., rarity, HP/pound, HP/$, eye candy, etc.) That way we can avoid all these arguments over whether it is cool or not.

4pipes 07-25-2011 09:33 PM

Haven't you noticed, arguments are the fertilizer for Club Cobra.:D

I saw a Mustang go by me on the freeway today with 302R. Did it have the one you are talking about? Wow.

4pipes 07-25-2011 11:04 PM

Same engine in Boss 302, Laguna Seca, 302R.

Don't ever admit to owning a 385 series powered Cobra or a kit from CMC,you will do just fine.Just enjoy the experience with a car built to your specs no matter what powers it or who's name is on the ID tag. Most of us know better so continue to enjoy this forum for what it was meant to do.Bring all us like minded enthusiasts together.

mreid 07-26-2011 07:37 AM

Oh come on, we have to argue about carb vs. EFI, auto vs. manual, SPF vs. ERA vs. FFR vs. Shelby vs. Unique vs. Contemporary vs. Shell Valley vs. mine's better than yours, etc. This blue vs. that blue, big block vs. small block, Ford vs. Chevy, stripe vs. no stripe, full roll bar vs. one roll bar vs. two roll bars vs. no roll bar, etc., etc, etc. If I missed your favorite, argue with me about it!

Sharroll Celby 07-26-2011 02:00 PM

You forgot .64 vs .82 OD ratio in the T-5 transmission! lol !

xlr8or 07-26-2011 02:53 PM

and tire selection.

SpecOp1 07-27-2011 01:17 PM

Lmao

mreid,
That was classic....while new here, I have seen that quite frequently....

TButtrick 07-28-2011 04:07 PM

I didn't mean to start any type of argument here and really didn't see it heading in that direction. I'm actually looking toward a Coyote 5.0 in my next build and would like to know more of whats below the surface in each.... just sayin.

lovehamr 07-28-2011 08:21 PM

Personally I think its way cool and would be great for anyone who's going to put a lot of miles on the car, wants the reliability and still has a hankering for big power. Not to mention almost unheard of MPG for a big power Cobra. Think about that puppy in a Brock Coupe with a supercharger. Uh Huh, that's right, Big Bend here I come!
