Brake light switch brand identity
1 Attachment(s)
Hey guys my West Coast Cobra has a bad brake light switch, brake lights stay on after car is turned off. I checked out the switch and it is faulty, however, I cannot identify the brand. It is located on the master cylinder. Here is a picture of it, bear with me and the uploading of pictures.
Tks any input is welcomed. Basque1 |

it's GM let me look around i have the part number\application somewhere |
i have written a Filko switch......Filko SLS-24.......you can cross reference that to any number of manufacturers
the master getting toasty can keep pressure in the line keeping the switch closed |
Tks a million FWB. I see that you are un PA, perhaps we will run into each other one day I am in NY upstate (Rockland County 20 miles South of West Point)
Cheers man tks Basque1(Lou) |

Do the brakes release and the car rolls easily? Have you had the switch out of the cylinder and the switch still has continuity? |

but lemme know if you need anything else...i'm full of useless trivia... |
actually its not really necessary to get a specific switch. a universal will work just as good. any pressure switch will do, here's one at speedway motors.
and i'm sure napa or any auto parts store has their own version. Pressure Brake Switch - Speedway Motors, America's Oldest Speed Shop http://static.speedwaymotors.com/RS/...91031305_S.jpg |
You can also try your local Harley shop. Part number 72023-51d

sort of looks like a Cole-Hersee
Basque,
ERA has moved to the COLE-HERSEE #8626. The old brand...I fergits...wish I could remember, as BOTH of the originals failed under 5/10k miles..two switches as there are two master cylinders. Both now have been replaced with COLE-HERSEE and in ERA's experience seems more durable. The C/H looks very similar to your photograph, and is available at NAPA type parts stores. As FWB noted, chances are ANY switch with similar threads will work OK. If your quick, have teflon tape on the threads already, you won't lose enough fluid to need to rebleed. Hope that helps. |
