Hoarders/ Headsup
Y'all, sometimes I watch Hoarders on cable A&E for punishment.
I just watched the first few minutes of an auto hoarder, Nor Cal, redwood forest. Long-haired, bearded old fart (me with hair) but in the repeated camera headshots, over his left shoulder, looked like the right-side, ass-end of a Cobra or an AC Bristol. A later shot, only about 2 seconds, showed the right front of the same vehicle, crumpled. fibreglas does not crumple. Episode of Hoarders is titled, "Roy; Loretta," copywrited this year. It seems he is in deep kimchee with the County Gummint, over $1Meg in fines possible if he doesn't clean up his many acres of salvaged autos. Somebody please check this out, no, I can't record. Just me. |
Wow! Any indication what county or town this was near?

Went to A&E tv page, episode #45, Roy in Boulder Creek, CA. Only showed 1:43 min of front of episode, one blurry pic over left shoulder. Sorry.

Roy Kaylor. KSBW has a page on him: Boulder Creek Man's 168 Acres Featured On 'Hoarders' - The Central Coast News Story - KSBW The Central Coast
This sounds like Roy's business, and yields a phone number: Kaylor Energy Products Company Profile - Located in Boulder Creek, CA - Roy Kaylor Whatever it is, he might be pleased to see it brought back to life by an enthusiast. |
Strange. I have driven by his place dozens of time over the years on my way to Boulder Creek Golf Course. Always something unusual out front along the winding road. It's a pretty isolated area in what we call the Santa Cruz mountains. If you thought left over hippies, growing stuff in the back yard that is illegal and so on, you would be pretty close. Beautiful area though, lots of redwoods.....and maybe an interesting car or two. Great Cobra roads.

Here is the episode. I didn't watch it all, I did see a 65/66 Mustang coupe..

Front end at 2:09 Looks to me to be a Datsun Roadster of the late '60. What do y'all think? 1967 1/2 Datsun Roadster :: Z-Car Garage :: Northern California 289FIA http://www.zcargarage.com/images/196...ter-alvin8.jpg http://www.zcargarage.com/images/196...er-alvin10.jpg |
How funny. Boulder Creek is not too far from my house. What a curiosity. I'll have to pull up the episode and watch it.
Yeah, it gets a little, uh, odd as you go further back into the SC mountains... DD |
Based on the rear fender it looks like it is a '69 Datsun Roadster. The '69s were the only ones with a circular holes for the side clearance lights. Earlier ones had no clearance lights and '70s had square lights.
