Speedometer cable attachment question

1 Attachment(s)
The attachment shows the speedometer cable as it enters the transmission (TKO 600). I have yet to tighten fastener fully securing the cable to the case but does this clip to tranny appear correct? I would think I need to grind some off the case so that the short leg of the speedometer clip extends over the boss. Opinions or if someone can take a look or shot of their tranny and share would be greatly appreciated. If it matters I have SPF 2423 and I've swapped motor and tranny and trying to get it back together but do not recall this attachment in its previous state.

Just snug it down, do not flatten it out against the transmission housing. It is intended to just keep the cable with attached pinion meshed with the worm gear on the output shaft of the transmission. It won't go any where.
