Looking for Paint Protection film, static cling type
I will be tracking my car for fun next Tuesday, August 30th and thought I would look for some static cling film to help protect my paint in certain areas. Any suggestions on products that I can get before then? I have seen some racers use painters tape at the drag strip. I really don't want adhesive type, I prefer static cling if possible.

If you wind up with tape, use the blue painters tape. It comes off easily without leaving much glue. Google static cling on the 3M website.

"Road Wrap" will do it. Only good for 7 days I believe, then it has to be taken off, but it will protect your paint, lens, etc. Comes in a roll.
Don't have a source, google can help with that. |
I purchased a large piece (4 x 3 feet) of white static cling at a local sign and banner shop. Several colors were available, but white matched my stripes pretty close. Made a pattern with poster paper and then cut vinyl. "Float" on with blue glass cleaner and smooth out retained bubbles and excess cleanser fluid with "credit card" squeegee. I placed this on front of rear fenders as a removable spat. Has worked well, no peeling, displacement or dislodgement.

I saw film like that at Pep Boys not long ago. Looked like really thick Seran Wrap.
