Their site is here: LoJack Security Systems for Stolen Vehicle Recovery, GPS Anti-Theft and Persons at Risk
It's kinda steep, but if it works...
Tom

The issue with Lojack is, you activate it after you discovered the car is missing. While the Dewalt reports imminently of tampering. Time is critical factor - big difference when you call the cops and report

Lojack: My car is missing, I don't know when and Lojack informs the cops for the location.
or
Dewalt: A theft is in progress at "address" right now - please sent a unit.

Fred,

In the United States, cell-phone jamming is covered under the Communications Act of 1934, which prohibits people from "willfully or maliciously interfering with the radio communications of any station licensed or authorized" to operate. In fact, the "manufacture, importation, sale or offer for sale, including advertising, of devices designed to block or jam wireless transmissions is prohibited" as well. It is a federal offense.

Jamming is seen as property theft, because a private company has purchased the rights to the radio spectrum, and jamming the spectrum is akin to stealing the property the company has purchased. It also represents a safety hazard because jamming blocks all calls in the area, not just the annoying ones. Jamming a signal could block the call of a babysitter frantically trying to contact a parent or a someone trying to call for an ambulance.

Under the U.S. rules, fines for a first offense can range as high as $11,000 for each violation or imprisonment for up to one year, and the device used may also be seized and forfeited to the government.

...good luck.

...unless they get handcuffed and slapped with a permanent (again, it is a federal offense) record. This is not just a simple children's prank on a neighbor. This is serious stuff...one of these days it will be taken into the homeland security act.

G-Pete 08-25-2011 10:34 AM

...oh by the way - you can not say nobody. I take it serious and my friends too.

Reminds me of when I was a kid and would shoot someone with a spitball in class. The teacher would always say "Patrick, if you do that again it will go on your permanent record." It never did.

So, best case is install both in your car..........
If someone (professional thief) decides he wants your car he'll get it, there's not any fool proof way to prevent a theft, locating and recovery is a different story,at least you can get it back, hopefuly in one piece....

I have two types of lojack systems in my car. The first one works off a key fob. If the fob is farther than 10 feet from the car and the car is moved more than 10 feet, the lojack system calls the company and they call me and ask if I know where the car is. The second lojack system is a GPS program. I know it works because I took the car in for some work and forgot to leave the fob. They moved the car about 15 feet and the system notified the company and they called me. I had to take the fob to the repair shop so they could move the car around:D
