Thank you.

still can't see what you are offering that Cobra Automotive or Paradise Wheels doesn't already sell ?

Vintage single Paxton on a small block ? they have it. On a big block ? they have it too. Dual Paxtons ? no problem, they both will fix you up.

Are you wanting to use a different brand supercharger, or modern Paxton, or sell a supercharger of your own manufacture ? The vintage Paxton market, however, seems well serviced by existing companies.

Dumpling- "what I'd be more interested in is some kind of intake, something along the lines of a DCOE crossram or center-front opening plenum style (obviously fuel injected) that might possibly fit under a stock hood, or at least under a hood without needing the horrendous-looking domed hood blister that Shelby needed.

that project would add something new to the world of FE's and Cobras: a modern injection, low-profile blower manifold."

You've red my mind, you're very talented. ;)

The company is Paxton/Vortech. We spoke about developing a smaller hat, brackets & accessories to fit under our hoods without the big fat hood scoop.

We can all discuss it in detail now, adding our thoughts of what we need and want for our cobras, to update & bring the power & technology to todays cobra. Then I'll report the ideas to them.

I pitched my idea to a magazine about updating Shelby's/Ford's original 1966 427 Super Snake, and showed real interest, if we can come up low profile & modern system.

One idea was like what Dumpling has mentioned, including either a carb or what I prefer, is updating to fuel injection.

Question's- does anyone know how tall the original system is from the engines deck to the top of the hat ? Paradise Wheels supercharger

Since a lot of todays cobras have about the same hood scoop, we'll also need to know the average measurement from the top of the hat to the bottom scoop, so most cars can utilize the system without changing the scoop.

DO WE HAVE ENOUGH ROOM FOR THE GEAR DRIVE ? (steering rack ect.)

Whats the max compression ratio you could run with one of these things? 10.5 to 1 ?

FUNFER2 10-03-2011 09:31 AM

Jam1775- no problem, now we can add questions, chat about our wants & needs.

I believe about 9:8 max (9.5 or lower is normal) depending on what max boost psi, fuel octane, injection of water or methanol to keep from detonation.

The car was awesome...bought all the stuff from Paradise Wheels in Cal, plus some home made mods. Think he is out of business now as that was back in 2001...

Gary, did the system fit under your blue ECF hood ? Hard to tell in the photo.
The car, engine & bay looks awesome.

JAM1775,

Sorry, I didn’t see your question up there. The inlet is in the center of the scroll typically in the back. Their are some Reverse rotation models with the inlet facing forward (4.6 mod Ford for example)
Normally we run a length of flex hose to an air filter that is somewhere out of the way.

Cost:
Given the relatively high cost of the vehicle, small market (compared to say 2011 Mustang GT or Camaro), low sale quantities, and the need for a carb box in the kit. I would est. the cost in the $5-6k range.
