Shipping FE heads - Anyone have empty Edelbrock boxes, or a better idea?
I finally have a set of heads sitting in my garage.:) I have to ship them from Houston to Kentucky, to Brent, for a rebuild. I'm thinking the easiest way to package them would be in a set of empty Edelbrock FE head boxes with the packing they originally used. They'll be nice and safe in there, and it's easy to do. If anyone has an unused set of Edelbrock FE head boxes and packaging laying around, I'd be more than happy to pay to have them shipped to my place empty so I can get them on the way to Brent.
If anyone else has a better idea, I'm all ears. I'm not sure of an alternative or best way to package two cast iron cylinder heads. Also, whats the best way to send these? UPS, FedEx, someone else? Thanks. Doug |
if your sending them to Brent, see if he has some head boxes, you could try also to call barry over at survival motorsports for boxes. i had the same dilemma when i had my heads redone, i had keith craft mail me boxes to send him the heads.
and UPS was the most cost effective..... Fred |
i have an empty sbf afr box that you could borrow, don't know the size of your heads. shipping would prob be 15-no more than 20 ea. way.

What heads did you get Doug?
When I bought my iron TP heads the seller built 2 little wood crates for them. Little heavy but worked very well. |
I bought a pair of C4AE-6090's locally here in Houston. They need a small bit of work on two exhaust mount holes, and of course a rebuild. Other than that they look great, they don't appear to ever have been cut and they came fresh out of a mag check for cracks, they checked out clean.

Nice! Glad you found a good set I know you've been looking a while.

Sweet! Sounds like you are on the way to motoring down the road!

Doug,
Bubble wrap works great for shipping heads. Just wrap them a couple times around and drop them in a box and bring them to UPS. Bob |
I understand at a Staples u.p.s. counter they will box anything you are shipping from there for $5.00. Last I heard.
