insurance keeps going up do's and don'ts
I have state Farm and keep noticing my insurance keeps going up. I have no points or tickets. One would think they would help a man out, but no they keep going up. What are the do's and don'ts here, I don't want to go to a off the wall company and end up with bad coverage. Or get dropped, etc Who do you use and are you happy?

I'm still with Condon and Skelly with a $200 increase to $640 this year. Unlimited milage and I can drive it anywhere anytime(that's what they said) but I guess I should get that in writing. Got it once but it disappeared. Still under Metlife. 209

All insurance companies raise and lower their prices on a regular basis, depending on their claims history and whether or not they want to grow their business. I'm of the mind that I don't want to place my financial future in the hands of the cheapest insurer. They're cheap for a reason, and you will find out why at the worst possible moment. I don't go to the cheapest lawyer, and I don't search out the cheapest surgeon either. The best doesn't come cheap. And, if I should need an insurer in my corner, I want it to be the best. Not the cheapest.
One thing you can do is sit down with your agent and do a face to face meeting to review all your policies to make sure your coverages are up to date and that you aren't missing out on one of their numerous discounts. If, after you meet with your agent, you still aren't satisfied, then start shopping for another company. |
I have The Hartford, all my needs are bundled (home, RV, cars). No restrictions on the cobra and I have an "Agreed Value" on it, very reasonably priced policy.
So far..so good. |
I'm assuming that you're not just looking for your cobra....
after 25 years of loyal service, with not filing a claim in over 20 years, I just changed from Liberty Mutual to Met Life for 2 cars, 2 motorcycles, home and an umbrella. and put the cobra on collector insurance from American modern Home (agreed upon value, 6000 mile a year limit). I increased my coverage and decreased my costs by almost $2000 a year. It's only been a few months, but so far I'm happy with the change |
It doesn't make a flip how long you have been with an insurance company.. you need to shop them every 4 or 5 years. When you find a better deal, and your old company tells you they can match it... that really pisses me off.

problem is trying to find someone to right a agreed value policy here in NC seems State Farm which I have now is a market value policy. Is NC a market value only state? anyone know of any company that can write a agreed policy in NC?

Try Northwest Classic. They write Infinity policies. Great service, but I noticed that the increased my policy thinking that my car was appreciating in value.
Northwest Classic Insurance - Hot Rod Insurance Street Rod Insurance Classic Car Insurance Collector Car Insurance |
Robin Terry is a car guy and sells Infinity Ins. 217-438-6235
Midwest Classic Insurance I have my Cobra, GT 40 and 06 Mustang with him. Agreed value on all and unlimited mileage. Great guy, great service and about 2/3 of what I was paying. I love it. Dwight |
Unfortunately, market value is all any car is worth.
