Accu-Sump Mounting Pics
I,m looking for good pics of accusump mounting . CSX ,Kirkam, ERA and all others.
Thanks |

Thanks undy
How many qts is your Accusump ? |
I made a mounting plate from 1/8" plate alum. I bolted that to the front X-brace of the frame. I bolted two T-clamps from Summit Racing to the plates, so they hold the Accusump about 1/2" from the ends. If you put the T-clamps closer together, you can bend the tube and then it doesn't work any more. Then all you have is a dead space filled with oil - not very helpfull.
http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...2_005small.jpg Since this picture was taken, the green electric valve failed and I removed it. If you're racing, I do not recommend the electric valve. Of course, if you're not racing, why install the Accusump in the first place? |
Thanks for the pics.
Anyone have any good CSX or ERA ? |
Mounted in my ERA to the front X members of the frame. Used a plumbing clamp with a small aluminum plate making up the front closure and providing a place to anchor the Canton clamps.

I flip the dash switch and have 30lbs of oil pressure coursing through my engine before I even touch the ignition key. Good stuff!! |
Does anyone have a hidden system ???

Mounted under the car on the r/s frame rail outter
4SECA Sorry I don't have a diag camera. Mine is under the car. I have had to add a shield to protect the tank from debries that come off the front tires. Same as everyone else for tapping in to the oil line. Have the electric valve and 30 psi of pressure coming out of the tank. Someone just released a new valve setup for controlled oiling from the tank. It's automatic when the pressure drops below a psi range it automatic balances out the pressure. Also works to slow down the refill of the tank and not hurt the motor from not getting enough oil back into the tank. New stuff I just fopund. Canton, Milidon, or one of those companies. The only reason I didn't mount my tank under the hood was because or room and location. I have seen thses tanks mounted on the frame cross bar. It's 20 pounds of high weight in the car. Doesn't sound like alot but being able to keep weight low in car is better. The other reason is air flow over the motor and not blocking any thing in back of the coolant fan. Rick L.

I put mine way up front just off the front end of the main frame rails. Once the radiator is in, you can get to it from the bottom of the car.

I put mine above the passenger foot box on KMP500.

I put the 3 qt on the front rail. I also used a thermostatic controller for the oil cooler. I installed it in 2003 and it is still working great.

4SECA,... go to my building site.... Mark's Build - Unique Forums
This shows the accusump, remove oil thermostat and oil filters. Take note... many of the above installations are not correct. The accusump directions dictate the oil in/out end be higher than the pressure gauge end, i.e., tilted up to allow air in the accusump to escape. The build site has lots of pictures, but the one I attached here shows the tilt mounting Mark |
Mark,
Are you sure about that? I would think you want the oil to escape from the accusump, pushed by the air rather than the air to escape leaving the oil uselessly trapped inside the can with no means of propulsion. |
He is correct; The slight angled installation with the oil side higher is to allow any air trapped in the oil (foaming/bubbles) to the removed from the cylinder when the oil is discharged rather than being trapped in the cylinder.

Luce... I am sure. Here's a cut/paste from the Accusump install manual
Mark MOUNTING The Accusump™ will work with the tube in any position or orientation; however, if possible, mount the tube with the oil end (the end with the oil valve) slightly higher than the air end. This will prevent accumulation of air bubbles (coming from foam in the oil) by purging any minor air pocket during pre-oiling, when it will not cause any harm. Our mounting brackets are required for all units. The bands of the mounting brackets should be installed at the ends of the tube. Placement of the mounting clamps/brackets near the center of the tube could pinch the tube, causing the piston to hang up. Mount the tube in a way that it does not become twisted, pinched, or in any way distorted, as this will cause erratic operation and/or internal leakage. Be careful that the tube is not exposed to high heat (exhaust pipes), damage from stones or other cars, or used as a step. Attach the mounting brackets to the vehicle using 5/16" bolts of grade 5 or better. Use a reinforcement plate if the brackets are mounted directly to sheet metal. Tighten the bolts on the mounting bracket bands to between 6 and 7 foot-pounds torque. |
Despite mine being mounted horizontal and almost hard up against the heat of the radiator, mine worked fine.
