Chanmadd, real nice idea, mind if I borrow it:3DSMILE:
Hotfingers , the xtreme top, I can see where it would be good on a dyno with air going straight down on the air cleaner but in a driving situation with air going across the top, I have heard that it hurts flow. What do you think? Have you any data on that. Lou |
Lou, the only thing I can add, is that at the track I run the same times, with or without an air filter. After seeing that, I don't bother taking the filter off when at the track. BTW that's an 11 inch filter.

Mine is a 9 inch by 2.5 or 2.75 thick K & N, flat base with an Xtream top. No difference in the chassis dyno with it on vs off. Love it!
Updated my original post.. |
I just remembered that I cut about an inch off the bottom of the filter base to clear the hood.
That is why I had to replace the foam with a more open filter material, because at high Rpm the foam does not pass enough air and gets sucked into the carb. I used the blue home filter stuff from home depot , with trepidation at first, but as I said its been on there for a long time. Now I also know that this filter material is not as good at filtering as a k&n but with the extra in the scoop there are no stones coming in the scoop. |
