These are some measurements that I would be interested in also. As I am considering putting a glove box in mine.

427 or 289?

cobra 53 12-31-2011 09:28 AM

Hi,

It is for a 289.

As I am going to fit my new dash board, I also look for the measures of a dropped dash board.

Nick,

Where did you get that 17" measurement? All my pictures show something closer to 14".

mickmate 12-31-2011 03:23 PM

Hi Bob, that's 427 size 289 is bigger.

Hi Guys. I have an aluminum street dash from Cobra Restorers formed as the original street 427 Cobras. I'm using it in my street 427 Cobra replica.

I'll try to send a drawn pic tommorrow - a dimensioned tracing of the glovebox door size which I made to be approx 1/8 inch smaller overall than the dash glovebox opening to allow for the leather or vinyl covering plus the bead/whelting which goes around the glovebox door.

Basically the door size is 13.75 inches long overall with the large circle being 5.5 inches and the small circle being 3.5 inches.

The bottom of the door is flat from the bottom of the large circle and curves up slightly to meet the bottom of the small circle.

The top of the door has about a 0.25 inch curve above a straight (flat)phantom line which joins the tops of the two circles.

Clear as mud?

Greg

Hi Greg, that's a pretty good description. I have all the common dash layouts programmed as I make them. He is looking for the 289 dash info.

Nick,

Consider me Dope-Slapped (by myself)... :o

I only had one half-good picture of a street 289 - but it confirms your measurement.

mickmate 01-01-2012 05:49 AM

Don't slap yourself too hard, make a resolution or something! The other 289 dash tidbit is they were leather covered.

1985 CCX 01-01-2012 09:35 AM

Mine is 17" :p

Bob, might be worth noting on your new 289's? Better yet, source them from Nick as he makes them.. I say very well in ally.
