I've been looking into building a AC Cobra. It's gonna be about a year from now when I can start. So I figured now would be a good time to start asking questions. Is it possible to build something that will do 0 to 60 in under 4 seconds and still be able to drive it 5 to 8 hours on the weekends? I have a LOT of questions. But lets start with the one above and we'll see if this is possible. Budget say around 30k to 45k ish. Quin |
Definitely. There are many cars out there from many different manufacturers making sub-four second 0-60 times. You didn't mention what state you are in and that will impact your engine decision when it comes to titling. Also, don't discount a previously owned or turn key unless your heart is set on building it yourself (even if it is, often you can score a great deal on a completed kit and then change it to your liking for less than building a new kit). Surf some of the websites like FFR, ERA, A&C, or Backdraft, Superformance, Kirkham, Shelby if you prefer a roller or turn key. The world is your oyster!

A Turnkey is not out of the option. But actually building one is something that I've been wanting to do for a long time. I didn't mention the state I was in because I didn't think it had that much of an impact. Arizona is the state, and again didn't think it would be that much of an impact. I've already did some looking around FFA and Kirkham. The starting kits and the price that they were offering them is what is making this possible. And yet at the same time I know I have A LOT more research to be done before I even start. Again thanks for the reply, and letting me know that what I would like is something that is actually possible. I see spread sheets, notes and lots of browsing in my future! Regards, Quin P.S. Yes you can....check out Keith Craft ...my 408w has 535 hp 535 ft lbs. in my FFR III ...SCRAMES!!!! Welcome to "Cobra Funs". What color you want some times is he hardest part of the build.

Charles Actually the color is already picked out. :3DSMILE: The engine I think will be my hardest choice, and require the most research. Everything else almost has to fall into place once the engine is picked. And by this I mean you then have limits on what you can and can not use. Back to more reading. Regards, Quin |

It's easy to cover both the 0-60 you want and have a good driver.

In the 4 years I have owned my Cobra, we have also had a 2006 Jeep SRT/8, a 2001 Chevy Impala, and currently own a 2002 C5 Corvette, and 2010 Infiniti QX56.
Our of all of those vehicles, to me the Cobra is the most comfortable to drive long distances provided the weather is nice. |
