Insurance suggestions

I have my other hobby cars (66 427 Corvette and 67 Ply GTX) insured with American Collectors Insurance for the rather paltry annual rate of about $360. My ERA is now painted and within 8 or 9 months of being driveable (maybe) and I thought I was overdue to at least get some comprehensive coverage on all the parts and stuff sitting in my garage. I called ACI up and asked them about adding the ERA to my policy and I about gagged when the lady said OK - $734/annual for $50k coverage.

After recovering a moment I asked why would this replica be so high when I insure a nice 66 Corvette with them for a little higher value, for 1/3 of that amount. She said because it's a replica parts are rarer and hard to find!!!!! Than an original Corvette?? Uh-huh. Biting my tongue I said thank you, I think I will check around.

So - any good suggestions? I like ACI and I think they are really reasonable on my other cars but I think $734 is a little ridiculous. My daily drivers have been with GEICO for over 40 years and no one has even been able to approach their rates for me - but they just don't do classic cars justice. I may try Grundy. Any others?

Thanks - I know there have been a lot of insurance threads over the years but I though some of you might like to hear her explanation for the high quote.

Try Midwest Classic Insurance -
10/6/11 I spoke to Robin he quoted me $346.00/yr $35K, 250 deduct, does include towing also.

I tried their on-line quote and it was very reasonable for all 3 of my hobby vehicles - about 1/3 of what American Collectors Insurance wanted for just the ERA Cobra alone.

I sent off for a complete quote and will see how it goes. Are their coverages written for Agreed Value?

Thanks

Dan

I would definitely give Hagarty a shout, a lot of savings, great reputation, the more cars, the more savings. I have converted about 5 or 6 people over, all comment on the great service and savings.
