Changed CPU's on the Server Tonight

As many of you have witnessed over the last couple of years, the server at times has been less than stable. While this has been a problem for you all, it's been at least as big of a challenge for me getting the stupid thing going again and again at all hours....The challenge has always been that the server is remote, there are no errors/logs that indicate what the problem is, etc, so it's been a lot of hours over time trying to diagnose memory, software, raid, CPU, etc, etc, etc....

Anyways, as a last ditch effort for this particular server, I have replaced the CPU's with AMD 3rd generation quad core processors. If nothing else, it will help with performance.

All that said, I have no idea yet whether this will address the problem or not, but if I find that it doesn't solve or otherwise reduce the frequency of the problem a great deal, I will be building another server.

To all of the contributing members, you paid for the CPU's and I appreciate the contributions.

Hope the new CPU's do the trick.

Glad to have helped in a small way.

Ron, I sent you a PM about a permissions glitch in the Classifieds section as well. When you get a free moment would you take a quick look at it?

Welcome to Club Cobra...The world's largest non-biased Cobra site! - Club Cobra

this is what i use to bring up club cobra, from here if i click the down arrow next to the thread title it brings up the message 'no thread specified. if you followed a valid link please notify the administrator.'

if i click the 'new posts' at the top i can then use the down arrow next to the thread title.

should i not be able to access the first new post, or down arrow from the link above?

Brent and Ron,

Thanks for all of your time and hard work in keeping the site up and running! I'd like to encourage my fellow members to hit the CC contributor tab at the top right to keep the mother ship up and running.

I am working on this...I hadn't noticed this behavior as I don't use it this way personally, but I'll get it fixed up.

This is actually interesting....but not exactly easy to figure out. Sometimes the links work, but other times they do not....and it's not just any particular thread or anything like that, so it's randomly not working...or maybe it's randomly working...you be the judge. :D Still, not just as simple as I had hoped and will require more investigation.
