need advice on jacking bridge 4 post

Hey all,

I am looking to get a jacking bridge for the 4 post lift. The jacking bridge uses 2 bottle jacks to lift the car.

If I purchase the bridge with the jack, I will be at half the cost of the wheeled jacking bridge that works with the lift.

Any suggestions?

I was looking at 2 air bottle jacks, but was thinking for more money I could get a more stable system.

Thanks

couple things you need to be very careful about--4 posts lifts are designed to support the load at the cross over aligned with the posts and some lifts are designed with'for the bridges you talk about, however not all are and adding a cross piece to use as support for a couple of jacks to lift a vehicles weight at some other point could be disasterous--

The lift I am looking at sells the jacking bridge to do this purpose. In addition they also sell the bridge for manual bottle jacks.

But thanks hor the heads up I will definitly ask this question when purchasing either.

I use jack stands to lift tires off ramps if 2 post has something on it. I lift only one end of coarse. I have the cross jack platform but don't use as much as jack stands. I have a set up to 24" and a set up to 60". Two post is better for most things but I park cobra on 4 post to protect car. Bendpak 4 post ,Mohawk 2 post.

razerwire,

So, the runway has enough space to place the jack stand on with out the bridge? The runways that I am getting are 20 inch wide. I have noticed typical 4 post are 18 inch.

With this being said, do you think I could get away with not purchasing the bridge right now?

I put the jack stands on floor under the frame and then lower the rack to raise the tires. I pick what height I want the car when I'm working on it, then adjust jack stands under frame and lower hoist enough to clear tires.
