I'm just getting going on my street beast cobra and I have a few questions. I'm looking at getting a 1994 mustang cobra rear end with a 61.5" width. Does anyone know what wheels I need (backspace etc) in order to stay within the fender? Also I used a mustang II front suspension, any ideas what back space I'll need? I'm sure this is the first of many questions...

I have a 95 mustang axle and used the FFR 15" rims with success. Though the 295/50 were a bit wide on the rear. I went to 60 series in the rear and everything fit well. But then I wrecked it and now in the rebuilding process-and am focussing on reshaping the rear fender to make it a bit wider.

Do you want to spend a few bucks? I had the Mustang rear narrowed, bought new axles, coilovers, then removed all the spring perches. You can cram a 315 under the rear fenders that way.

For the front, there are a few companies that offer narrowed upper and lower tubular control arms. It will allow you to run a wider rim/tire.

Too much of a test for the grey matter,but the number 64" sticks for some reason.295/50 fit perfect as well as 245/60 up front.Started out with mustang front did not like the strut bar went to tubular A arms with coilovers.Best way to figure back space is hang plumb line from inner fender or lay a straight edge against wheel mounting surface and take measurements.The wheel people are very helpful when it comes to getting it right.The wheels and tires have to fit right or driving the car will be pain.

this thread makes me wonder why dont we CMC/Streetbeast/fiberfab/Innovative streetmachines have a owners group? seems we are always searching for our unique issues amongst all others.

I have a new set of 1 1/4 shorter upper and lower front control arms that Street beast sold to put wider tires on. I do not need them so if you are interested let me know.

Sure would have been nice to have had something like this in the early 90's,a very good idea.I'll be watching.

Sounds good. My Streetbeast will be done this spring. I have learned alot.

Thanks for all of the thoughts. That would be great if we could get a street beast forum. There is a set of knockoffs for sale on this site, but I'm not sure if they would work. They have a 5" backspace on the rear and are running a 315-35-17 rear, any thoughts?

Are you setting your car up for KO's?

As I mentioned above, to run this rear tire, you need to remove the coil spring perches on the frame and on the control arm. I had aftermarket upper and lower control arms on the rear. They were a bit narrower than the regular Mustang style. You would also have to run coilovers on the rear. It is a really tight fit, but can be done.
