California Registration Question

I spent 6 months registering my Cobra through the demonic California DMV back in 1986. I went through the process again to get the SB100 registration with smog exemption. I do not want to do any of that again. However, I do want to change my personalized license plate. Has anyone done that? Did you have to go through all the hoops and hurdles again?

I got a personalized plate a couple of years ago. No problem at all, the same procedure as a normal car.

Just order and pay for your new personalized plates online. They will notify you when its ready for pickup. And when you pick up your new plates, you will turn in your old plates. Simple, as long as your registration is current.

No problem. Plates have nothing to do with the SB100. That is all tied to the VIN.

Thank you all very much!

I think "kit car" is still available.

I am sitting here waiting for the DMV to call me back...HA! I ordered new plates on-line but they never notified me, there supposed to send you a post card or something, well it's been two months...I suggest you download the forms and take them in yourself.

The best thing to do is move out of state. Many of your worries will go away, including DMV.

If you belong to AAA go there. I went down , filled out the form paid the fee.
In about 4 weeks they called me to come pick up the plates. The form asks you for about three names and what they mean. I think AAA was able to pull up on their computer and tell me if the name was taken before I submitted the form.

You can go to the DMV web site and do everything online.
