Exhaust Crossover Pipe
I have removed my header system, typical 4 into 1 outside side pipes system from my car. I built a system using late model 5.0L shorty headers into 2 1/2" pipe that ran from engine bay out through opening that original headers exited. I was now able to run a crossover tube between the sides across the lower engine bay. I am using hushpower mufflers and will install cover over them for looks. Wow what a difference in proformance. The first thing I noticed was the idle picked up from 1000rpm to nearly 1200rpm. The throttle response is so much quicker. The car has a 400hp 306 cid SBF, big roller cam, big heads, 12lb flywheel, etc. Most modern performance applications, including NASCAR use an X-pipe, H-pipe, etc. The sound of the car is so much better like a V8 instead of two 4 cyl motors. I will post some pics soon. This is still keeping the looks of the Cobra with sidepipes but adding a hidden modern performance touch. I am using V-band clamps in front ant rear of muffler so that you can change mufflers to straight pipes for track days.
