Registering my cobra in GA

I'm buying a superformance this Sat. Title says 2003. My county has emissions on anything less then 10 years old and I want to be able to appeal to anyone in the country should I sell some day. How do I get around this issue? How can I title it as a 1965 is title already says 2003? Any help would be great !!!!

Unfortunately you cannot get around this issue, and you will not be able to get a tag for the car, title yes, tag no, if you live in a county with emissions requirement. I live in fulton and ended up titling my SPO in South Carolina. Saved me a bundle in taxes and they never even looked at the car.

Emissions in GA go back 25 years not 10.

Call Susan.

If the title says 2003, it has to pass emissions for 2003 in Ga. Unfortunately Ga. is pretty stern on these cars. Now, if it has a 1965 title coming into Ga., no problem. My former car was titled this way and I had zero problems. If Susan can help it's worth a try but I've known many that have bought cars as your describing to end up in shear misery! I have a good friend that found an incredible GT 40 title in Ca. with SB100. Ga. doesn't accept the SB100 as the year on his title says 0000. Ga. would revert to it's original Kentucky title that was from 2001. No dice, has to pass emissions as he is in Roswell too. The VIN is already registered and there is nothing he can do so he has to pass! What's funny is if your over 65 though, you can get your car through with emissions exempt ( I believe) based on your age. Doesn't make sense! For the last 4 years or so Ga. wouldn't even title a new "Kit Car" at all, none, zero, ziltch! Best of luck but I would precede very cautiously. PM me if you want to talk more. The Parham's are great folks, maybe they can help. Regards, Matt

Madrush, follow the link below. This is the Atlanta areas page. Plenty of posting on this issue there. This page can be accessed from atop, Forums/Club Forums/AC Cobra.

AC Cobra - Club Cobra

At the age of 65 you are exempt for a certain amount of miles per year, I think it's 5,000.

The top blue bar you will either see portal or forums to the left/first. You need to be on forums, click forums.
