Looking to purchase 427
New to forum and researching Cobra's to purchase my 1st 427. Wanted to get some opinions without starting any arguments. Just honest input or opinions.
1-Who the premier manufacturers are? 2-Who has the best quality? 3-Who is the most authentic? Thanks |
Well, you don't mean the engine your post reveals.
Kirkham, Shelby, ERA. Those three answer your three questions. |
This could be fun.
If if we're honest, the list will be short. IMHO (in response to the questions) 1. Kirkham, ERA, Shelby 2. Kirkham, ERA, Shelby 3. Shelby aluminum (currently spec'd), Kirkham, ERA |
I was where you're at now back in December when I first started looking. There are a number of good manufacturers out there and the best one for you depends on your specific needs. If you're interested in authenticity, then the three listed above are the best. Other considerations are whether you want to build vs. buy a turn-key car. If you want to build, some offer options in their kits regarding level of completion and you can literally choose how much you want to do yourself. I did a lot of reading on this site - each manufacturer has it's own forum as well as the manufacturer's sites. I found that a lot of my questions were already answered on this forum and when I couldn't find an answer or wanted fresh responses the guys that respond are awesome with knowledge and assistance. At this point, I'm patiently (ok, impatiently) waiting for my kit.
Good luck and welcome. Regards, Kevin |

Lots of opinions, and lots of advice here, good luck in your search.
Are you looking to build, or buy completed. If you are looking for authentic competed cars I would look at Shelby, Kirkham and also check the older Hi Tech cars all 3 are great options. Good luck. |
Thankr.s for all the input so far. I would like a fiberglass car, The aluminum cars are out of my price range. I would prefer a turnkey or at least close to.
Keep the info coming. |
If glass is your choice then ERA is the answer.
If that is out of the budget, you may wish to consider a Contemporary CCX. |
Post your budget and we can cut to the chase.

I thought Contempoary was out of business? I prefer a new car. Budget would be about 60 K

427
do you want a 427 motor or the body style?
What about Unique? One of the oldest companies, Jag rear end, quality car. We have several of them around here. Dwight |
There a few ERA's 4-sale here. Nice one's too! and in the price range you spoke of. Mabe a little higher than you are looking for, but cash talks! :3DSMILE: Good luck in your search. ;)
|
You should have no problem getting a nice low mile ERA for that price or less. Cash talks in this economy. Cheers.
