Clutch slave cylinder bracket needed
Does anyone have a source for a clutch slave cylinder and bracket to fit a 427 with a Lakewood scattershield that mounts the bracket on the aft side of the bellhousing/block location? The bracket I have mounts on the block, rather than the bellhousing, and I'm not happy with the angle that results from the rather rough casting area on the block. I'm thinking that a bracket that mounts on the rear side would benefit from the perpindicular mounting surface on the bellhousing.

I would think that's just one of those things you need to just fab yourself. You do that a lot with these cars.

Mine is on a T5...I just found a pic of it and made my own out of 1/8 steel...works great

I am currently setting up 4 big block cars, I can tell you a lot depends on the fork used
. Send me you email address and I will send you a picture of the bracket I make up. The other problem is the 4 inch frame rail right there, not a lot of room to work with. I think Kirkham makes a compete set up as well. Cheers |

Still haven't found a bracket that mounts to the bellhousing. Anyone have one like that?

Hey Doug, Check with Forte. His Quicktime clutch set up is sweet with a slave mount block that welds to the bell housing. I have what you're talking about here, I just haven't dug it out for you yet.

Rosehill Performance Parts Been looking at this myself. Just not sure it would work with a pull-style on our Lakewood. Thoughts? EDIT>>> Just realized this guy is 10 minutes from my house. :) I will cal him and go check it out this weekend. . |

Thanks for the links. Those guys only do tremecs, T5s, etc. I have a toploader. Pretty close, though. I don't seem to be able to find a good solution that is ready made. This thread brought me a couple of leads, but nothing concrete yet. Cobrakiwi and Mickmate have both offered solutions that may pan out. Or I may have to take Tim's advice and fab one myself. Or modify what I have. I can't believe that I'm the only one who has had this issue, though. A 427/Toploader combo is not exactly rare! |
I talked to Glen at Rosehill. They are open to engineering a solution with me but timewise its not something I could get on for 60-90 days. And Doug given you have a toploader you are even worse off. So I say we keep looking.

That's a really slick solution. I wish I had seen it while I was building my car. Unfortunately for me, it's a modified bellhousing. I'd have to remove mine, buy the new bellhousing, slave cyl and clutch fork, and reinstall. My car's already assembled, and I'd prefer a solution that uses most of what I already have. I'll probably go with that one on my next build, though... |
Hey Doug do you have the regular toploader clutch arm? They need to be modified to clear the frame rails. I assume you want to keep that arm there with the ball end pushrod.
