need some help
2 Attachment(s)
I have now lost three gauges due to them cracking at the front face, I checked and I don't have the U clamp on back of dash to tight just snug. Seems I need to have a support bracket at the back of dash to hold them better.. I know the NC roads are bad But I can't continue this...I'm using Classic instruments gauges 2 1/8 size

thin bead of clear silicone and
rat dog You need to isolate the gauge from the dash. Something is not flat or too much torque is tighting down on the gauge face. Best fix to try first, put a bead of clear silicone behind the cover and let dry. about 1/8" If you can also but a very thin bead between the glass and trim cover on both sides. Use a razor to remove and extra. Assembly the gauge back in the dash. If it needs nuts to hold it there change to nyloc nuts. Same as the Airforce uses. Tighten nuts untilthe play is gone from the gauge wiggling in the hole, that's it. Road test and see what happens. The large bead should sperate the gauge from the dash to stop the breakage. Had the same problem with Hemi track car and cracking things from vibration. If you still have a problem go to foam and rap the gauge and reinstall. Give the gauge a clearance of 1/16" between gauge trim and dash. Good luck. Rick
