Default Are you sure it's an Excalibur?

My research indicates that indeed over 100 Excalibur bodies may have been sold / traded.

However there was another Cobra body, again similar to the CR with the similar (NOT identical) Excalibur style doors.

These were sold as "Badgerland classics".

I understand the mold for this body started in Fargo, came to Wisconsin and sold again about 2 years ago.

Be careful with your purchase of hood and doors as they may NOT fit!

You could try Al Trolio and Nick Petralla, the current owners of the Excalibur molds as mentioned earlier in this thread.

Or perhaps Don Scott can come to your aid.

In the meantime, I know a guy with a spare hood...I'll check to see if he wants to part with it.

Good luck!

Tom

Tom, I appreciate the reply. I talked with the guys at DV and as soon as Don has completed his new inventory I hope to be dealing with them. The hood that I would like to find is the wide scoop CR hood. Thanks again, T

Talking HOLY CHIT, WHAT A FIND!!!!!!!

SHE IS BEAUTIFUL!!!!! NUMBER 104 HAS SURFACED IN ALL HER GLORY. A WHOPPING 788 MILES ON HER. SHE IS DARK BLUE WITH NO STRIPES. LOOKS LIKE A SPECIAL BUILD CAR. I THINK THE COLOR IS GM DARK INDIGO BLUE. SHE HAS THE EXCALIBER BADGES WITH NO BADGES ABOUT THE SIDE PORTS.

SHE HAS HEAT AND AIR, HIGH DOLLAR STEREO, TOP AND COVER. HER BEART IS A FULLY DRESSED OUT 302. ALL SHE NEEDS IS A NEW BATTERY AND A NEW OWNER. SHE IS FOR SALE

LICENSE PLATE HOLDER BY EXCALIBER HAS "PETE'S DREAM"...I BET!!!!!!!

ONLY DOWN SIDE IS A FUNKY SIDE MIRROR MOUNTED ON THE DOOR. I CAN LIVE WITH THAT WITH THIS CAR

IT LOOKS LIKE SHE JUST CAME OFF OF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR.

Well tell us more!!! What you mean "is for sale"? How much? How will it be marketed? Are YOU going to buy it?

hmmmm,,,,no stripe, I don't like that part. I wonder if the exhaust mainfolds are cracked yet? I think it only takes a 100 miles for that to start happening, LOL.

Default Upadate:

Tohmer,

The guy with that extra hood does NOT want to sell it. You see he's the guy that stuffed a 514 in his Excalibur. His motor is so big he had to cut a hole in his hood for the carb & air cleaner. He wants to keep it "just in case".

There's a picture of it at: www.carshow.netfirms.com

Oh...my yellow one is pictured there also

Oh and the Black #141 is Dougs!

How's that saying go? "Too much power is just enough!"

Well he gave me a ride in it last night. Now I thought mine with a awesome 351C was fast ...needless to say his was incredibly fast.

We got up to....____MPH in...( OH OH...I better be careful here or I'm likely to be admonished by the righteous few!)

He offered to let me drive but I didn't dare.

Any way...I'm sure DV will be able to help you out once he gets settled.

Jay...keep us posted on the final destination!

T

Ohekk,,,I been thinking about removing my bumpers and just leaving the over riders. It looks like that is what you have done. Anything special required to do that?

Default Nothing special!

You'll just need to add some spacers behind the aluminum sleeves
or have some longer sleeves made.

By the way...DLS is considering sellling his Excalibur.

I hope he doesn't make the same mistake as you Ernie!

Smile EXCALIBER 105

JUST LOOKED AT EXCALIBER 105 ON EBAY AND TALKED WITH THE SELLER. IT IS A RED CAR AND I WILL BE LOOKING AT IT NEXT WEEK.

WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THAT I WOULD FIND 104 AND THEN 105 ALONG WITH SCOTT'S 106 CAR IN MY GARAGE...ALL THREE IN DALLAS?

LIFE IS GOOD AND I LOVE A MYSTERY.

Default Jay...I'm not surprised!

Excailbur had a promotional deal for "qualified" dealers to be able to buy four.

Check around...103 or 107 might be nearby!

Hey guys,

I was at a car show yesterday and met a car painter from Excalibur that said he had painted all but 9 of the Cobras including mine. He gave me some interesting facts. He says that there were a total of 151 of the Cobras built, including one that was extended by one foot to accommodate the height of the ambassador to Zimbabwey.

He talked for about an hour, and had some great stories. Can't go into them all here, but basically, working at Excalibur was a non ending party with Jens leading the way. He was quite a playboy and used the cars, the company and the promotional budget to advance his agenda. (we can only wish we had that deal when we were young)

I told him about this thread, hopefully he'll be signing in sometime with some tidbits for us.

Doug

I hear you Jack.

Needless to say, the Ambassador from Rhodesia would not have been authorized to spend $90,000 on a custom tailored Excalibur. But then again, they probably could have afforded it and still been able to feed their people which is certainly not the situation now, but that's a topic for a different web site

Thumbs up Excalibur #105

Hey ohekk,
I just purchased #105 it is Red with black int.
302 EFI 8.8 rear 5spd A/C Pionner Stereo with cass. and JVC CD Canger (Is this Changer factory Installed?) Soft Top and Tonneu Cover has 6025 miles OOP'S add 165 that I put on it the last two days. I love the car. My father was looking at a Shell Valley car at Arlington Swap meet and asked me to drive it and tell him what I tought. I loved the car some much that I came home and watched eBay auctions and we returned the following weekend to Arlington to get my Excalibur car.

The headers have been weld by a shop in Dallas and cost the original owner $843.13 for the repair. The A/C has lost its charge propably from sitting. The CD player doen't work and the Clear light on the dash nearest to the steering column is on after a few short miles.

Hey jayscobras,
Did you in fact go and look at the #105 car and if so what did you think about it?

Jack, Great post.

I had an interesting childhood and met the consulate of "Zimbabwe" in South Africa on a family trip while a senior in high school. It actualy counted towards an assignment. My best times have been as a make pretend diplomat . Raki needs to be involved for this one.
