I look at it this way, If there was only 250 Ford Mustangs built and sold in 1965 and years after that it became the most replicated car in history then it would seem only natural to label the car as a 1965 Mustang replica even though you completed this kit car in say 2010. You surely can't call this a 2010 Mustang. So being that most replica Cobras were splashed from an original CSX Cobra, it seems just as natural to label it as a 1965 A/C Cobra for the brief explanation to a car enthusiast. On the other hand if you sell it then you would of course qualify the manufacturer and divulge the fact that yours is a replica. That's my take...

My issue is with the people that are advertising their replica for sale and list it as a 196X Shelby Cobra. Then in the advertising there is no mention of the actuall kit/roller manufactures name. That is BS and they know it.

As for my feelings, that hinges on fraud.

There has been at least one person (If I remember correctly) that has come to this site and had to be told that they were ripped off. I believe they paid in the 6 figures (or at least that is what they said) for a replica that was worth quite a bit less.

Sad part about this is it will never end. There will always be Predators crawling around looking for those not informed. The majority of people are honest.

Hmmm, I'm not sure this statement is accurate.

I started a thread a while ago trying to identify which CSX Cobras were used to pull molds for the various replicas, but I didn't get far.

Some of the "better" kits seem to have been splashed from original Cobras, but I'd guess a lot of them were splashed from other replicas and/or eyeballed.

I remember that... I came away with the feeling that if you were dumb enough to drop six figures on a replica, thinking it to be real, then you really didn't deserve to have six figures to drop in the first place. C'mon, this ain't like getting snookered in to buying a fake Gauguin.

Yeah, more like buying the Brooklyn Bridge.

I say 1965 cobra replica made by Kirkham, just to be clear. Some states actually title it as the year it replicates.

Hmm! because in every aspect, excluding glass. It is a 66 AC (not/shelby) S/C sideoiler! :p I've been in extended romping! mode in 4 (260cid, 289cid, 427s/o & 428c/o cid) different original Shelby AC's during my youth! This is just as strong as all of them. Except CSX 3116 s/o. That was truly a Beast among Beast!
